Word of caution. DONT go in asking the pawn shops if they have seen it. The cops will do that. If you warn them ahead of time that its stolen, they may not take it in on loan....which you want them to do rather than the guy selling it to an individual and you never seeing it again.
Also, the pawn shop is prohibitted from telling you if they took it in on loan due to confidentiallity laws. They will report the serial number to the cops though, so if its on the hot sheet the cops will tell them to hold it.
Third, pawn shop owners hate the reputation they have that they are a fence...They arent, and most of them do everything they can to aid police in busting people trying to sell stolen shit...But if you go in there asking about it they often will get irate, and you want them on your side if it does surface.
IF it is pawn, it wont show up on the shelf for a few months, they have to hold it for so long after the loan is default before they can sell it to give the cops time to find out if its stolen.
I used to hang around pawn shops a lot, and got to know several of the owners/managers personally.
