Word of caution. DONT go in asking the pawn shops if they have seen it. The cops will do that. If you warn them ahead of time that its stolen, they may not take it in on loan....which you want them to do rather than the guy selling it to an individual and you never seeing it again.

Also, the pawn shop is prohibitted from telling you if they took it in on loan due to confidentiallity laws. They will report the serial number to the cops though, so if its on the hot sheet the cops will tell them to hold it.

Third, pawn shop owners hate the reputation they have that they are a fence...They arent, and most of them do everything they can to aid police in busting people trying to sell stolen shit...But if you go in there asking about it they often will get irate, and you want them on your side if it does surface.

IF it is pawn, it wont show up on the shelf for a few months, they have to hold it for so long after the loan is default before they can sell it to give the cops time to find out if its stolen.

I used to hang around pawn shops a lot, and got to know several of the owners/managers personally.

Damn, can't a person have ANYTHING without some slimey bastard rippin it off? The one thing probably in your musical life that truly meant a lot to you. Why couldn't he have stolen the collection plate or something. Maybe the fact that he stole it out of a church will help you recover it in some way you never imagined. I hope so. Sorry about your loss, hope you recover it soon.

True my friend. ;)

And thanks!

Our bass guitar also got stolen from our church. The bass wasn't all that, but it's the principle of it all. That just ain't right. The guy climbed through our church kitchen window and took the bass from our musical cabinet! Lucky he was stupid enough to leave the more expensive portable things behind! It just leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.

(remember the Zion model that Ty Tabor used to play?)

THIEF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Have you seen a Baseball glove with the letters DFR engraved with a hot iron???

BTW: Grew up down the street from Ty. Still see his brother sometimes, but haven't seen Ty since he was a little kid. His dad an my dad are friends. All can play the SHIT out of a guitar.

I had a '67 V (original) and a 70's 335 that played like a dream taken from my apartment 20 years ago. I'm still pissed and I'll never get over that, if that helps to make you feel better.

damn fuckin' thieves...

we had some kids come to a church dinner, because they liked the smell of the BBQ. We said..."have a plate...help yourself". They ended up stealing a purse from under the pews...

asswipes...too many walking around, I tell ya. I try to forgive them, but it's hard.

Eyes,

I had my house broken into some years ago and some very precious mementos stolen. I've had my car broken into at least four times.

Like you, I wanted to find the scumbags and make sure they never thought of stealing EVER again. A baseball bat to the fingers is quite a deterrent, so I believe. Also a gentle tap to the shins reinforces that concept.

I know the law enforcement officers in my state here in Australia take a very dim view of this course of action, but oh, the satisfaction...

Similarly, I have a guitar that to me is irreplaceable. I would be devastated if it were stolen from me.

Eyes, I really feel for you and I share your pain. Your sorrow is ours.

I had a friend who said something similiar.........

"The Devil always pays"

I can't imagine having an instrument that long and having this happen.
Your attitude is very civil and in the end life goes on.
I only hope something really nice comes from this.
Until then I can only share your first thoughts....

FUCK!!!!!!!!

Best of luck Eyze

DAMN I hate to hear this kind of shit... I just hope that someday this bastard will get his.. If he don't and everything is just a lie then what good is anything...

I feel your pain dude.... about 15 years ago I had my limited edition standard 80 Les Paul stolen....
It was a beautiful, AAA flamed maple, antique sunburst heritage series, I paid over $1,200.00 back then, I hear they're worth thousands now....
I still get sick to my stomach when I think about it....
I hope you get yours back....
