I just got a new mixboard "Phonic MR 3243" and everytime I open Cubase or even maximize it on my computer it gives a hum. How can I take this hum away? Do I need a new Sound Interface? I got a USB sound card running to my PC. What Do you think?

Have you tried moving your mixer further away from your monitor? Have you tried switching cables? Do you have any faders up, other than the stereo mains, when you hear this hum? I think it would be best to troubleshoot where the hum is coming from first before you do anything drastic. I can't help but think it has to do with your monitor though, since you mentioned it happens when you maximize.

My guess would be that (as stated above) you probably have some effect or instrument loaded and it's turned up to high or that is actually what it's supposed to do. If you're only getting this while running Cubase I would guess that is your problem.

Thanks!...I think I fixed it I just ran the rca's from the mack to a hum eliminator and the ones from the PC I just changed the connections. It seemed to had worked.

Hum eliminator? What is this hum eliminator? Seriously though, what exactly is it. I've been stuck on doing physical mods to eliminate hum.

Does the hum affect your actual recordings, like when you do a mixdown? I have an Aardvark Q10, and I get hum sometimes when one of the aarvark's channels is being monitored, but it doesn't have any affect on my recordings.

Check the link to see what a hum eliminator is:

No it doesnt record the hum but sometimes it will record a hiss or the mic will pic of the bass from the headphones and will slighly record it but with a raddle, like a speaker of your car is popped. I use noise gate for this situation, it seems to slighly eliminate the background noise. The vocals seem to record clearly though...I think it has to do something with the mixer Im bearly getting used to it, I used to use a Mackie ONYX 1220 that seem to be less complicated then this mixboard.
