the X-12

im just starting to record, and i was wondering what do you know about the X-12? is it worth it (only 129 new at my local store) thats a pretty damn cheap 4-track, and how many mic inputs? i cant seem to find that out anywhere. -Nate

It's like any other 4 track that is tape. How many tracks will you need to stack (ping pong) and how many times. Each time you stack tracks, the sound degrades. And as far as mic inputs, there are 4 inputs all high impedance which are 1/4" jacks. You would have to use a high impedance mic or get transformers for any low impedance mics for conversion. If you are only going to record 4 tracks and maybe bounce once or twice, it would be OK. Any more than that and you are better off going digital.
