Hey everyone, this is the (first) complete mix of this song. Let me know what you think of it all! Streaming audio or downloadable mp3 at:

The song is called "The Verge of Breaking Completely Down" at the bottom of the list.

Thanks, Peter

Nice guitar playing and guitar sound. Watch out for discrepancies tuning wise between two guitars recorded like this. I heard a few. Either caused by intonation issues or fractional string bending when playing. You do have to be very careful.

Should the click be there? I thought it was going to break into a trance track any minute, it's that sort of sound. It would sound better without it, but it does need something. Maybe a full band to add some dynamics to the song.

If you could give the vocals slightly more clarity they'd sit better with the guitars which have a clearer sound. Maybe eq changes or alterations to the reverb settings could achieve this.

Very impressive piece of work.

Pete.

I was worried about intonation, but I think it came out well. Where were the discrepancies you heard? There is one small section that I know of near the very end, but otherwise I didn't hear any notable ones.

The click is supposed to be there, but it's not supposed to be a click. It's a kick sound. On my system it has a nice, rich low end to it that almost sounds like a bass note. What are you listening through? I wonder what would make it sound that way. A full band would probably help, but unfortunately that's not something I have access to. Anyone else have input on how the beat sounds?

I agree the vocals could use a bit more clarity, thanks for the confirmation on that. I'll see what I can do.

The sections around 0:25-0:45 and 4:00-4:30 are probably the most noticeable for guitar pitch issues. There is also the odd chord now and again throughout the song which catches my ear. Bear in mind that my ears are very sensitive to pitch. If there was more going on to draw my attention away I'm fairly certain I wouldn't notice any issues.

At the moment I'm listening through a pair of Sennheiser HD565 headphones direct from my G4 iMac 'cos it's 2am here and I don't want to wake my house mate.

I called the kick sound a click because I sometimes use a low kick sound as a click when I record so that it is separate (frequency wise) from what I'm playing. It sounds very unreal to me. I just don't think it fits the song. I'd rather hear the song without it.

Pete.

Okay, thanks for the tip. I'm curious if anyone else hears pitch issues. Anyone have feedback on the rest of the mix, the CB transmissions in the background, vocals, etc?
