Call me stupid, but...
DISCLAIMER: I don't know shit, don't do shit, don't want shit, and ain't about shit, so listen to me if you want, but don't blame me if my input sinks your battleship...
...if I only had 30-35 grand to spend on building a room (or two?) to work in, I would not drop loot on an Argosy desk.
is the reason he is going pro tools. If you mean why is he going protools on pc and not mac, then it is because it is much cheaper to build and upgrade a pc than a mac and like 95% of other pc users, he has never used a mac."
get your friend outta the hooker's pussy if he can't stand
the deep...
Besides, I thought PT was hella dependent on it's own cards more than the actual CPU. Maybe I'm wrong, the only "PT" I know intimately is
Pam Thomas, and ya'll cain't feel me on that broad, no how...
On your budget, I'd be most definately checking out other scenarios that'd serve my needs without planning to spend down to the last available penny in my universe. Especially if I couldn't afford what I was looking at.
If dude is gonna use pro tools, then why does it matter which platform he uses? He'll be spending damn near all of his time
within the software, anyway. Besides, some pretty nice 'verbs & shit that ain't (yet?) available for windows machines...
Oh yeah, and all that money for gear, and only a yard for treating the room? And, you may have to do construction and shit, too? Hmmm... I spent a grand damn near in supplies - wood, drywall, nails & (special?) screws, RC, and so on to build my old studio in the back of my store (not counting a whole host of other shit needed to complete construction, like the few specialty goodies that make building a room work, he used rubber mounts to mount the channel strips, for example) - but I'm no genius (or even novice) at that kind of shit, my ex-bird's ol' man hooked me up like whoa. Maybe you don't need that shit, I dunno, but maybe you should holla at the cats in the studio building forum (or whatever it's called - after you read alot there), w/out knowing what you working with (or how to do it), how can you make a legitimate guess at anything? How much ya'll gotta actually build? How much can you do to the room you renting? Does it not matter about adjoining rooms or businesses or bedrooms or whatever?
Plucking gear, like pussy, is the easy part.
Having the right kind of space to tap dat ass is a whole 'notha story, I think.
THIS IS THE PART YOU CAN HOLD MY FEET TO THE FIRE ON...
All that loot
+
All that shit on your list
=
1 triton le
1 roland xv5050
0 Akai MPC (of any flavor)
0 Turntables
So much for the ultimate hip-hop studio.
Hmmm...

I thought...
...you had a market nailed, and a way to make them believe ya'll had the illest room for beatjunkies, DJs, and MCs. To me, it doesn't really look that way now. Without the specialized equipment & blunt guts everywhere, I'd have NO WAY of seeing or knowing your room was made just for a fool just like me... I can't tell you what to buy, but I'd slow my roll and
seriously think about what I wanted to accomplish, with whom, and in what amount of time before I even began beating the drum about gear, etc...
Gotta man up before you can put a suit on, ya know? A soft dick don't stab...
see, by your own efforts, ain't no diff (thus far) between a "hip-hop" studio, and any other recording studio.
THE ONLY THING YOU CAN BLAME ON ME IS IF THE RECORD SKIPS...
