Please don't take offense.. Posting here is an invitation to critique...

The only thing I really wanna post about is the devil thing...

If there is an entity, called the devil, and he has any intentions at all, he is objective. If he is objective, he has to weigh possibilities and viewpoints. To weigh viewpoints, he has to be capable of both good and evil.. Hence the objectivity... If you say that there is an "entity", who is completely evil, yet intends on doing something, it doesn't make any sense.. You see, the entire argument breaks down...

It makes more sense to me, if such "powers" truly exist, to omit the "masking" of this "entity" and just call it what it is, "evil"... Using the term "devil", is a unavoidable deterrant to any people whom you wish to influence...

I understand your intentions, but I'm afraid I can't view the subject matter in the same light as you.. Although, I honestly believe that we agree, on the REAL topic at hand (the current state of hip hop)...

You must understand.. The people who are mostly to blame for the "bad sector" of Hip Hop are the business people... Everyone, who needs to eat, well, needs to eat... They just go about it the wrong way, sometimes...

Why do you think Pac's (and others) lyrics conflicted themselves so often? The man was confused, just like myself, others, and possibly you...

A large quantity of my relatives are die-hard Christians.. I've noticed that these people get so caught up in the interpretation/expression of right and wrong, that they never really get to the heart of the topic..

I'm not trying to flame ya.. Just thought we could discuss this openly...

Peace be unto you...

P.S. I was rambling so give me some slack, please.. :o

Im sorry but GANGSTA RAP isnt the reason we have violence..there has all way been violence in this world well before music. I dont get where everyone seams to think blaming whats goin on it the world on music is the answer.. yes music have a strong message sometimes..but to say it the root of all evils is wrong. People do different things and have different ways to to get their game up to do much..liek back in the days it went from smoking, to drinkin, to drugs... the devil isnt causing people to rhyme about whats happending on the streets, they do it it let the world know how life is.

I dont knock noone that is tryin to get the information out that other hide..these are the thing in life, Ima say it like this if you dont want to hear it dont listen to it, dont buy it, find a classical music station and listen it it..but remeber every song has a meaning with ot without lyrics.
Most people dont listen to lyrics...but everyone is titled to their own opinion..he is just stating his..

i will still look at the site..just cause you posted it..

Very good point BK. Actually, we're alot more civilized and a lot less violent now than any other time in history. Think about public executions, gladiator games, slave trade, the Holocaust, etc....

Music alone won't cause killing or other types of violence. It will just help influence a person who is already prone to violence.

The pastor said that heavy metal was the devils first attempt to lure people to him through music.

From the band that ushered in the genre of Heavy Metal, "Black Sabbath"...

Here are the lyrics to the EXTREMELY LEGENDARY song, "War Pigs"

(The preacher isn't always right... pssst.. He's human too... And most likely doesn't know the lyrics to this song)

"Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death’s construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait ’till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs of the power
Hand of God has sturck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
All right now!"

Last time I checked, I completely agree with these lyrics...

my thing about this is that Hip Hop and "gangster rap" (this is the way I use it) is my way of expressing what I've been through, lived, and exprienced. The majority of the people that I kno who rap use it the same way. we aren't causing the evil by telling our story. The evil was already there and we put out music so that people can relate and know that they not alone in the struggle.

Just to clear this up, i'm not saying music is the only reason why violence is happening. It is what is fueling on the violence. I heard a testimony from a former gang member. He said that it is impossible to just go kill someone. You have to be egged on to do it. His gang would ride around listening to gangsta rap until they would be mad enough to kill their own mothers. Gangsta rap is wrong. Point blank. I know that it is basically explaining what's going on in the streets but these young cats hear that stuff and want to replicate what they hear. I personally don't listen to it now, but it changes people around me so i should do more than just flip the station and forget about everyone elses well being. Also, everyone has their own opinions and beliefs but i'm just bringing what is real. Where you decide to go when you die is your choice. I'm just trying to help now because later i won't be able to. I'm not professing to be a holy rolly christian because i have problems too. I just know what i was called to do and i'm doing it. It makes me laugh when i see how people respond to truth. They don't want truth. They can't stand to hear it. All i'm trying to do is get more positive music to be recorded since this is homerecording.com. Change starts here.

Werd...

"It's Like That" -Run D.M.C.

Edit: I guess I'll just post the lyrics.. Cause I'm listenin to the song.. lol

[Run]
Unemployment at a record high
People coming, people going, people born to die
Don't ask me, because I don't know why
But it's like that, and that's the way it is

[D.M.C.]
People in the world try to make ends meet
You try to ride car, train, bus, or feet
I said you got to work hard to want to compete
It's like that, and that's the way it is
Huh!

[Run & D.M.C. alternate lines for the remainder of the song]
Money is the key to end all your woes
Your ups and your downs, your highs and your lows
Won't you tell me last time that love bought you clothes?
It's like that, and that's the way it is

Bills fly higher every day
We receive much lower pay
I'd rather stay young, go out and play
It's like that, and that's the way it is
Huh!

War's going on across the sea
Street soldiers killing the elderly
What ever happened to unity?
It's like that, and that that's the way it is

Disillusion is the word
That's used by me when I'm not heard
I just go through life with my glasses blurred
It's like that, and that's the way it is
Huh!

You can see a lot in this lifespan
Like a bum eating out of a garbage can
You notice one time he was your man
It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is

You should've gone to school, you could've learned a trade
But you laid in bed where the bums have laid
Now all the time you're crying that you're underpaid
It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is
Huh!

One thing I know is that life is short
So listen up homeboy, give this a thought
The next time someone's teaching why don't you get taught?
It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is

If you really think about it times aren't that bad
The one that stretches for success will make you glad
Stop playing start praying, you won't be sad
It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is
Huh!

When you feel you fail sometimes it hurts
For a meaning in life is why you search
Take the boys on the train, drive to school on the church
It's like that, and that's the way it is

Here's another point in life you should not miss
Do not be a fool who's prejudice
Because we're all written down on the same list
It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is
Huh! (Repeat 4x)

You know it's like that, and that's the way it is
Because it's like that, and that's the way it is

Laugh.. ugh.. Okay.. :o

Hey Fyre, there's nothing wrong with telling your story. It's just that when people tell there stories with curse words and all kinds of filth, it corrupts the music. People can feel a song without vulgar. If you can tell your story without cursing and introduce somebody to christ in the midst, your doin it how it should be done.

Dang, i got yall heated pretty quick. Guess i can't ask for beat opinions anymore:)

Oh, i'm not talkin about run dmc and stuff like that. That stuff was alright man. They still cursed sometimes, but it wasn't no where near what we hear today. That's when rap was real. I'm talking about stuff like NWA, 666, and all the commercial stuff comin out today. For example, I love Jay Z. He has the best comparisons i've ever seen. The thing is, he calls his self J-Hova. He thinks he is God and he's in for a rude awakening. Same with Ja-Rule and DMX.

Correction: Hova refers to Jesus...

Time to bust out my religous quotes:

(3) Jesus said, "If those who lead you (plur.) say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in heaven,' then the birds of heaven will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. But the kingdom is inside of you. And it is outside of you. "When you become acquainted with yourselves, then you will be recognized. And you will understand that it is you who are children of the living father. But if you do not become acquainted with yourselves, then you are in poverty, and it is you who are the poverty."

I wasn't using their work (DMC) as something to critique.. It's the lyrics that are important.. The lyrics apply to the topic at hand.. Not the era...

What you don't realize is Jesus was God himself in flesh. People try to make common sense of the bible but there is nothing common about he supernatural realm.

My pastor told me stuff like this would happen when i opened my mouth:)

That topic is beyond the scope of my interest in this thread...

I could easlily bust out a "Buddha is the same as Jesus"...

but I won't.. lol
