My pastor told me stuff like this would happen when i opened my mouth:)

I failed to mention a few things....

My grandpa was a travelling preacher..

My dad preached, for a time...

My dad and mom fight about this stuff all the time (cause he's obsessed with philosophy and she is a straight up Christian)

Edit: That's why I could go on all day with this.. lol

I just wish i could give everyone i came in contact with a copy of that dvd so they could see it for themselves. Your eyes would truly be opened. It got me moved to the point that i'm going to stop selling beats to just anybody because i would be contributing to the mess going on today.

Ya know my mom told/tells me not to pursue a record producing career cause of all this...

I denouce it! Blah! My dreams, my soul, my life...

Sorry mom and the "authors"/EDITORS of the Bible... I'm doin' me..

I understand why your dad is that way. He's trying to make practical sense of your moms beliefs. You can't. I don't know why or how alot of stuff happened in the bible but it happened. If you don't think the devil is using music to corrupt people, you are blind man.

There's nothin wrong with pursuing a music career. I am too. But, i'm doin it for christ. That's the key point. Otherwise, your diggin an endless pit for you to fall in. But, if your set on diggin, i can't take the shovel from you. All i can do is tell you the truth and hope you realize it one day. I respect your decision.

.... It is what is fueling on the violence. I heard a testimony from a former gang member. He said that it is impossible to just go kill someone.... You have to be egged on to do it. His gang would ride around listening to gangsta rap until they would be mad enough to kill their own mothers. Gangsta rap is wrong. Point blank..... I just know what i was called to do and i'm doing it. It makes me laugh when i see how people respond to truth. They don't want truth. They can't stand to hear it. All i'm trying to do is get more positive music to be recorded since this is homerecording.com. Change starts here.

OK Im goin to say this once and once only.. you are believing what the MEDIA is selling you...that Rap Music leads to VIOLENCE. you have heard testimony of former Gang Members for a reason..they had time to one sit in a cell and realize what they were doin wan no way of life..or they were in a near death situation and now they wany to disencourage younger kids from goin that rout.. and if you believe thats is impossible to just go kill someone...go ask anyone thats fighting the war in Irag or Afghan.. and tell them its impossible to kill someone... You are not talkin any truth you are talk what the MEDIA wants people to believe what rap is in all forms.

its all nice that you want more positive music to listen to be..in the real world its not goin to happend. I have heard all kinds of this and that about he listen to this song and it caused him to do this or that..those are escape goats..

im done with this topic...

The problem is that I don't believe in the devil... I believe evil exists.. I do not believe it has horns, a face, a mind, a body, anything of the sort...

Trust me.. I've experienced evil first hand.. There is a three week hole in my memory from a peer pressure event... I have seen that which you speak of.. It is very scary.. It is not as you describe... I'm sorry .. I cannot be convinced otherwise...

You ever heard:

The Roots - Phrenology - Something In The Way Of Things (In Town)?

It's like that man.. EXACTLY LIKE THAT!!!

Here's the lyrics:

The Roots f/ Amiri Baraka
Phrenology
Something in the Way of Things (In Town)

In town x3

Something in the way of things
Something that will quit and won't start
Something you know but can't stand
Can't know get along with
Like death
Riding on top of the car peering through the windshield for his cue
Something entirely fictitious and true
That creeps across your path hallowing your evil ways
Like they were yourself passing yourself not smiling
The dead guy you saw me talking to is your boss
I tried to put a spell on him but his spirit is illiterate

I know things you know and nothing you don't know
'cept I saw something in the way of things
Something grinning at me and I wanted to know, was it funny?
Was it so funny it followed me down the street
Greeting everybody like the good humor man
But an they got the taste of good humor but no ice cream
It was like dat
Me talking across people into the houses
And not seeing the beings crowding around me with ice picks
You could see them
But they looked like important Negroes on the way to your funeral
Looked like important jiggaboos on the way to your auction
And let them chant the number and use an ivory pointer to count your teeth
Remember Steppen Fetchit
Remember Steppen Fetchit how we laughed
An all your Sunday school images giving flesh and giggling
With the ice pick high off his head
Made ya laugh anyway

I can see something in the way of our selves
I can see something in the way of our selves
That's why I say the things I do, you know it
But its something else to you
Like that job
This morning when you got there and it was quiet
And the machines were yearning soft behind you
Yearning for that nigga to come and give up his life
Standin' there bein' dissed and broke and troubled

My mistake is I kept sayin' "that was proof that God didn't exist"
And you told me, "nah, it was proof that the devil do"
But still, its like I see something I hear things
I saw words in the white boy's lying rag
said he was gonna die poor and frustrated
That them dreams walk which you 'cross town
S'gonna die from over work
There's garbage on the street that's tellin' you you ain't shit
And you almost believe it
Broke and mistaken all the time
You know some of the words but they ain't the right ones
Your cable back on but ain't nothin' you can see
But I see something in the way of things
Something to make us stumble
Something get us drunk from noise and addicted to sadness
I see something and feel something stalking us
Like and ugly thing floating at our back calling us names
You see it and hear it too
But you say it got a right to exist just like you and if God made it
But then we got to argue
And the light gon' come down around us
Even though we remember where the (light or mic??) is
Remember the Negro squinting at us through the cage
You seen what I see too?
The smile that ain't a smile but teeth flying against our necks
You see something too but can't call its name

Ain't it too bad y'all said
Ain't it too bad, such a nice boy always kind to his motha
Always say good morning to everybody on his way to work
But that last time before he got locked up and hurt, real bad
I seen him walkin' toward his house and he wasn't smiling
And he didn't even say hello
But I knew he'd seen something
Something in the way of things that it worked on him like it do in will
And he kept marching faster and faster away from us
And never even muttered a word
Then the next day he was gone
You wanna know what
You wanna know what I'm talkin' about
Sayin' "I seen something in the way of things"
And how the boys face looked that day just before they took him away
The is? in that face and remember now, remember all them other faces
And all the many places you've seen him or the sister with his child
Wandering up the street
Remember what you seen in your own mirror and didn't for a second recognize
The face, your own face
Straining to get out from behind the glass
Open your mouth like you was gon' say somethin'
Close your eyes and remember what you saw and what it made you feel like
Now, don't you see something else
Something cold and ugly
Not invisible but blended with the shadow criss-crossing the old man
Squatting by the drug store at the corner
With is head resting uneasily on his folded arms
And the boy that smiled and the girl he went with

And in my eyes too
A waving craziness splitting them into the jet stream of a black bird
Wit his ass on fire
Or the solomNOTness of where we go to know we gonna be happy

I seen something
I SEEN something
And you seen it too
You seen it too
You just can't call it's name name name name name name name

That's fine peritus. I respect that. Now Bknot, there's no reason for you to get mad. I am telling truth. It's plainly seen. What kind of pleasure can you get from hearing somebody brag about what they got, who they got, and what they doin? The YOUNGER GENERATION is getting influenced!!!! That is plain as day. It used to be unheard of a elementary school kid bringing a gun to school. Where did they get the idea from? Either a movie, tv show, or somebody saying "imma shoot dat &#*($&*#(&$*(@&#*(4738924789"!! You see, it's stupid that you would get mad over that. Most older people are not stupid enough to get caught up in the crap being boosted today. It's the KIDS. I hear of more kids cursing, having sex, and actin foolish now days more than i ever have. I know that people have always done the same things but it's getting worse and alot of crap on the radio nowdays is not helping. I'm not some stuck up guy trying to bash all rap. I am a black male who's listened to rap for years and seen how SOME BAD RAP can change people. I got a cousin who lives and breaths gangsta rap and stays in trouble all the time because he wants to be like the people he see's on the videos. FAKE. Wise up bro and watch your tone.

Right on man.. See ya on the other side.. (Or maybe not..) Who knows.. :)

Glad to be here.. Glad to be capable of love.. Not too happy about being capable of hate.. But.. I'm a human.. That's the philosophy homie...

lol. I respect you peritus. You didn't get nasty wit me like some people(bknot) do. Look at what beatsbuy said about proof gettin shot

Sucks big time. The music industry is no game! You think it's all fun and bling. But, it also bring hatters, and true gangstas. It no different then the 1930's and 1940's with Capone. It's just evolved... Let's get back to true Hip Hop where you end things on wax!

Thanks.. but...

I don't know how I can put this.. We just don't understand why you have to take the topic into religous territory.. It doens't have to be taken there, to be dealt with... In all honesty, I feel that the purpose of this thread is to proselytize, not solve problems in Hip Hop..

Of course.. It's not you behind that, personally.. It's how (most?) religions operate...

Don't take that as gettin' fresh.. Just sayin'

Music alone won't cause killing or other types of violence. It will just help influence a person who is already prone to violence.

Alright. So, why in the world would we make music that would influence somebody proned to that?

I'm not the smartest person in the world, so what does proselytize mean? I bet it's something really simple that i'm going to slap myself for not knowing:)

Did your Moms ever ask you this:

"If (insert friends name here) asks you to jump off a bridge, would you do that too?"

Same thing

for 1 Im not mad, 2 you havent told no truth about anything..other then yes..its a lot of crap goin on nowadays..but you can put that on rap(gangsta rap as you say).. This is the problem its a image that folks want to live by..some do some dont..its depends on where your at in life..

I really could care less tell you the truth..but you are not goin to sit here and tell people its impossible to kill someone without listen to Gangsta Music or music period ..LOL.. that another escape goat everyone want you to believe is the reason for violence.

damn to much multi-tasking i forgot what i was goin to type i will get back to this...

Also, i'm not trying to be religious. Religion is the reason why people can't see alot of stuff. Religion is passed down over the years and people do the same stuff over and over again. This is Truth, Fact, Real. Not tryin to be religious at all. Okay, lets look at it in a non "religious" point of view. Point blank, do yall think music has any effect on how these young kids are acting today?

At this point.. You would need to shed this thread to not be religious..lo

More honesty.... Now.. You are taking it into a political realm..

Here's why...

If you say that people shouldn't be allowed to make music about guns.. Well then.. Welcome to nazi Germany...
