Don't worry about him ZB he hasn't got over getting a slap from Harvey G and myself when he started banging on about the acoustic behaviour of materials in speaker cab design.;)

Good ol Harvey!!!

If Muttley goes, I don't see much point in sticking around. Simple as. I don't care much about the VP stuff - I find his misinformed posts a little irresponsible, but the internet isn't infallible. HR is a very handy resource however, and people like Mutt have, time and again, solved simple and complex problems for those of us who live for guitar.

I'll stick around TP I'll just step aside and let VP handle all the technical stuff. Got to be easier that way, every body should be happy then.;)

Well to be honest, I don't need you any more mate, last week I tried to raise the action on my Strat all by myself!

..........

...32-20 Blues stepped in and fixed it for me :o

Your bro did get all the brains I'm afraid. Not much you can do about that.:p

Good! Painting a house at the moment. Loving Dan Electros. Messing with a prepared lapsteel () and I think he's off to see Horslips on Sat. You know them yeah?

I'll shall tell you what guy's. I shall make this easier on every one.

VP is now the resident Know-it-all expert. You want to know anything about how to maintain your guitar or how to approach fixing it. If you want any pointers or help with musical acoustics and how vibrational physics works or materials science and the way materials behave, then he's the man to ask.

If you need to know if doing x, y or z is going to help or hinder when you try a little bit of setup on your guitar give VP a shout. If any of you are interested in build threads and want to see some pics of how guitars are put together or repairs are done VP has a bunch of pictures and knowledge to share.

There is an added bonus that he has already displayed in quantity and that is that he doesn't have to restrict himself to that narrow field of expertise as I have in the past. No, VP will quite happily extend his hand of wisdom to the just about any subject you choose to want advice on.

Enjoy your new resident expert and I hope he gives you many years of trouble free service. Just one word of caution. Don't blind him with common sense, physics (or any kind of science), reason or question the validity of his experiences and observations no matter how suspect they may at first appear. Just have some blind faith in his judgement and all will be fine.

In the meantime I'll take a break from that role if it's ok with you all.;)

LOL@ you lot falling for the victim_pete card. :D

No thanks, I am not interested in being the Guitar forum police. I do not want to be the know it all. But I will share my opinions, experiences and personal findings with anyone who askes.
VP

Horselips, that is a blast from the past. I had no idea they were still going. They must have been around forever.

Quite easily. By presenting facts to the contrary. If, in your opinion, 2 + 2 = 5 and you explained how you tried it several times and in your experience that was the result your opinion might be that you were correct. Other people, with better math skills, could disagree and prove you wrong conclusively but would you accept their judgment? What if they were math professors at the local college? You wouldn't understand the math, given your lack of knowledge in that area but would you acknowledge that others may have a greater knowledge and better understanding of the subject?

You are not doing that here. You are insisting that your opinion is correct based on your faulty reasoning and lack of knowledge of the subjects and you refuse to accept the judgment of people with demonstrable expertise in the field. You could be learning. You should be learning.

That is a terrible absurd example, why dont you use an actual example. Such as: My martins sound awesome since they now have bone nuts, saddles and ebony bridge pins. Now prove me wrong. Maybe you should come over here and I can get a chance to prove it, you do have ears dont you?

Sorry dude but that's also a terrible and absurd example, unable to be proven by you or by anyone else. It's not a fact your guitar sounds awesome. It's a great thing, no doubt, but nothing more than an observation. I happen to believe (most of) my guitars sound awesome too. Still, that's not a fact (well, if you want to argue semantics, it IS a fact that I believe it, but it's not a fact that it's true to everyone else). Do you see the difference?

Arguing your opinion is all well and good and I encourage it, but your opinion is more valuable when you can back it up with a little more than belief and admit when you're mistaken. If you wanted to teach someone at a university level, you couldn't just say "nah, it's like that cos I just think it is", could you?

All you need to say in your posts is "in my opinion" and you wouldn't get slammed so much.

In my opinion.

I can prove my guitar has improved to "awesome status" I can put all the original nuts, saddles and bridge pins in. I can then record it both ways and post it. This was already done in the Fossilized Ivory thread by another poster. The problem is my studio is in a state of flux right now. I also dont know how to post any recordings yet.

No you can't. This has been pointed out to you several times and you just refuse to listen. Do you understand why this aggravates people? Never mind the difficulties in recording comparison tracks the fact remains that you may think it's better and I may not. It proves nothing.

Be happy that you like it better and stop there. Tell people that you liked the results and encourage them to try for themselves. Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

The fact that you are arguing these points this incessantly really establishes the case against you. You never know when to stop.

Yeah...real recording is not as difficult as sequencing someone else's drum samples and MIDI patches, and stringing together a bunch of loops! :p

"real" recording?

are you inadvertently insulting another large group of homerecording members...wouldn't be like you to act like a dufuss now would it? :)

:p:p;)

you guys are hijacking this thread, waa waa, i'm gonna bwan you! waa waa waa waa

Good ol Harvey!!!
Ya had to say "ol", didncha? Ya coulda said:

"Good, wise, Harvey."
"Good, smart, Harvey."
"Good, guitar speaker-savvy, Harvey."
"Good, former Fender, Acoustic, and Jackson/Charvel employee, Harvey."
"Good, doesn't remember his name half the time, Harvey."
"Good, let's move him to an assisted living facility, Harvey"

"old" is the one thing I don't need to be reminded about.
:(

Just talking to you bro.
Don't hide behind "large groups". ;)

So kcearl...when you repeatedly show up in threads just to "stir up" someone...isn't that the definition of a "troll"?
Maybe true-eurt needs to do some more house cleaning. :p

Dude, that's insane. You cant show someone how they're wrong when they are pathalogically unable to admit to being wrong. That being said, there have been many, many attempts to illustrate his ignorance. He simply refuses to acknowledge correction.
that's the biggest issue I have with him.
I haven't seen him acknowledge even the possibility that he's wrong but once.
Personally, I doubt he even plays or if he does, it's not very good 'cause I can't find any recordings by him.

I think he's mainly a troll ....... that being said; the ignore function works quite well.
