Ever since VP has started posting on this forum Muttley has attacked just about every one of VP's posts with insult and with the purpose to incite VP to have to defend his each and every post.
I have read plenty and although I don't agree with everything that VP says, I don't agree with everything that Muttley says either. The difference is that VP will state that what he posts is of a result of his own experience and although it is subjective, the opinions are his are open to debate, but not dispute as subjective material is not disputable. If he is experiencing these differences in his experiments and posting about them then why is it necessary to call him out as being untruthful.
Not everything may or may not be correct but on the other hand pretty much everything that Muttley called VP out on has not been substantiated by any comment to back anything up. Instead the boiler plate response is, "VP, you are wrong, but I'm not going to tell you why", and then all of the posts that Muttley calls VP out on just go by with disagreement but without explanation.
If Muttley is not interested in backing up his statements then why make them in the first place? It does no one any good to read senseless drivel and never get to the bottom of anything. The attacks appear to be purely ego driven and egged on by the rest to call someone out. If he is wrong then add more to your comments so we all as a whole can learn otherwise it is just pointing fingers and being selfish with the answers. No one is learning anything.
VP can post all of the stuff he wants and that is fine. If you know then why not point out the truth instead of keeping it to yourself just to throw endless insults and never post the facts. Again, no one is learning from that. They are just getting bored of the banter.
As for VP, he does not deserve to be banned. He has not shown disrespect to the members and has shown great restraint in spite of being roasted for just about every one of his comments.
Instead of just telling him he is wrong, tell him why he is wrong and supply the correct information to back up your disagreement. If you want it to stop then change your approach.

a couple of times i even agreed with pete, not because i know him, i don't, and not to side with him, and no i don't always agree with him, but honestly because of my own experiences and things i've found also and i was attacked too. doesn't bother me, but did i deserve someone i've never even talked to before in my life pm'ing me this: 'I hope you die in a fire!' VP has posted unsubstantiated "facts" based on limited experiential evidence and when challenged - politely but firmly by many including but not limited to Muttley - has dug in his heels and played the victim card.
What you may construe as rudeness from Mutt is simply plain speaking, when addressing someone who is offering opinion as fact.
This may rankle you but it is not rude.
VP has subsequently offered himself up for whacking and has gotten whacked, and deservedly so.

As for opinions....we've already been down this road. I demonstrated that offereing opinion as fact was at best a fallacy and more often a lie. You fucking didn't get it then, either.

VP is now the resident Know-it-all expert. You want to know anything about how to maintain your guitar or how to approach fixing it. If you want any pointers or help with musical acoustics and how vibrational physics works or materials science and the way materials behave, then he's the man to ask.
If you need to know if doing x, y or z is going to help or hinder when you try a little bit of setup on your guitar give VP a shout. If any of you are interested in build threads and want to see some pics of how guitars are put together or repairs are done VP has a bunch of pictures and knowledge to share.
There is an added bonus that he has already displayed in quantity and that is that he doesn't have to restrict himself to that narrow field of expertise as I have in the past. No, VP will quite happily extend his hand of wisdom to the just about any subject you choose to want advice on.
Enjoy your new resident expert and I hope he gives you many years of trouble free service. Just one word of caution. Don't blind him with common sense, physics (or any kind of science), reason or question the validity of his experiences and observations no matter how suspect they may at first appear. Just have some blind faith in his judgement and all will be fine.

Quite easily. By presenting facts to the contrary. If, in your opinion, 2 + 2 = 5 and you explained how you tried it several times and in your experience that was the result your opinion might be that you were correct. Other people, with better math skills, could disagree and prove you wrong conclusively but would you accept their judgment? What if they were math professors at the local college? You wouldn't understand the math, given your lack of knowledge in that area but would you acknowledge that others may have a greater knowledge and better understanding of the subject?
You are not doing that here. You are insisting that your opinion is correct based on your faulty reasoning and lack of knowledge of the subjects and you refuse to accept the judgment of people with demonstrable expertise in the field. You could be learning. You should be learning.
