Damn it our secret is out!

Yes the bands name originates from a line in the first poem ever to be written by Robert Burns.

Who is Robert Burns?

He was the famous Scottish poet and songwriter who wrote the lyrics to Auld lang Syne - you know the one you sing at new year...

"Once I lov'd a bonie lass,
Ay, and I love her still;
And whilst that virtue warms my breast,
I'll love my handsome Nell."

Anyway it was a better name than "The New Lanark Village Group" so it stuck!

Oh almost forgot...

A Nell is a small mountain dwelling goat that can be heard throughout the Scottish lands especially during mating season where their distinctive yodeling has inspired many traditional Scottish folk tunes including Auld Lang Syne and the theme fom Braveheart...

And it's also a girls name...

Little NELL wass 007's "fold-away-and-store-in-the-boot-of-your-car-helicopter" ...007 wass played by a scotsman at the time ofcourse....it's all making sence

'New fuckin lanark! I helped rebuild that place on a YOP scheme back in 1987', you say.

Hullo, I was a wee nipper growing up in the village when you were 'working' on it. We used to collect your empty irn bru bottles and take them to the icy for fags. (I made the fags bit up for folk n' roll effect). We played on the dumper trucks. It was braw. One of my friends once accidentally pissed in an upturned hard helmet. Sorry, on his behalf, if it was yours. You didn't happen to be one of the fifty workies who drove a Mark II Escort did you?

This is the first time I got to hear "Lay Down My Love." It was cool to hear a harmonica in your guys' soundscape and the bass was well done, too. I like all of your songs. I'll probably continue to listen to them for years to come.
