Hello there. I'm trying to figure out this mixer that we have at

our church. There are a couple of buttons I don't understand,

and I also need some advice, as to how to set up some monitors

onstage. Please reply, so I can have some fruitful-diologue.

(also, any Idea where to get the manual from)

Thanks in advance, look forward to some discussion.

:)

Please help.

Hi again, regarding the Tascam m216 mixer:

Please explain some of these buttons:

Pad ; Tape ; 1-2 ; 3-4 ; PFL .

Also, Please help explain Insert ; Line in Tape in

Eff Rtn ; Sub in PGM OUT

It's been awhile since Ive mixed anything, and I understand

that every mixer is a little different. Also, where can I get the

manual (any answers would be nice) .

Thanks in advance.

from tascam's website under "ordering manuals":

...call us at (323) 727- 4840 from Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm Pacific Time. or email parts@teac.com

if you can get your hands on a manual, that should answer your questions. a lot of the stuff is very basic console stuff.

pad is a switchable, fixed amount of attenuation. if your mic is too hot into the board, you switch on the pad to decrease the signal to the input by -10dB or whatever that particular pad is. it "pads" the input.

pfl is pre-fader level. you use it to set your initial levels. when it's selected, your meters will reflect the level at the channel input, rather than the main output.

insert is for "insert" type outboard effects like compression.

eff rtn is "effect return." you can send your signals out to, say, a reverb unit via the "effect send." the reverb's output would then come back to your board via the "eff rtn."

i realize that none of this is going to make a whole lot of sense without some context--i'm just trying to give you a quickie tutorial. hopefully tascam can send you the manual.

good luck!
