It is a life preserver
This probably the most expensive microphone in my small bunch. The Sennheiser MD-441 is beautiful. Has that Lead vocal 'sound'.
BEAUTIFUL

you know what I mean?

The treble boost switch is always on.

Too expensive? Rob, don't you have Neumann's?

Yes later, and I have thought about getting two of these mics on and off for years, but I don’t think they’d earn their keep? They’d look good handheld in videos, and years back a friend kept loaning me two for drum overheads, but what got me was the things show every little scratch. Jamming them into the mic holders scuffs the finish as the square fit rotates them just a bit, when you shove them in, so the edges wear visibly. The satin finish shows little scratches very visibly, and they just need care, I know I cannot give. If you ever see one second hand, the prices are high but examine the pics. They always look old, in the way a 421 doesn’t. They seem to still look good when old. I sort of set a mental price limit for old mics. I want another beyer 201, but my price limit is £150. They are all over 200! For 441’s I’ve set two hundred quid as my absolute limit, and nobody will sell one for that!

Yeah, it's cool. Doesn't sound like the others either. Very bright and alive.

Thats one never been tried here. Interesting mic in design.
Just googled "fake 441" and seems its rare if any, so that's a plus for the 441.
$1200 new is in that Neumann used price range, in my mind. new AKG414 $1200, new Neumann 193 $1600, used U87ai $1700 used TLM67 $1500.

I've always read good things about the 441. interesting.hmm?
I did just fix my car for $24, when the Dealership wanted $2500 + rental car costs, so with "gearheads logic" I can afford some new gear!

The 441 seems similar to the SM7b where you can get super close to it per those pictures. (noticed its 1.8mv/pa spec, close to the SM7b. 1.2mv/pa)

Ill keep a watch out for used, but none at Guitar Center today, a few on Reverb but with all the shipping fees, taxes, an Reverb fees....Id rather drop a little more for brand new and have GC return policy and Sennheiser Warranty. Seems Used are going for $700-900- unknown used vibe.

Its a nice microphone. $1000 is lots of money. Fake 441s? I hate that. Let's hope not.

Don't they make fake Sennheiser e945's(supercard) for $25 on ebay? It sounds like two tin cans stretched over a line.
