What I mean here is this file is directly related to my accomplishing a goal set out for a Saturday afternoon despite many intervening obstacles.
Thanks to Slackmaster for reminding me that as much fun as the Monkey Method may be, I need to get my music recorded as well.
This one seems as crisp at 128 as at 192 so
I left it at 128. 1956 KB 128Kbps .mp3.

Look for piece #4 in the mp3 gallery,

I'll have to say this sounds better than your mp3 of you "pissing" :D When are we going to hear some more of thoes cat-brain vocals doc? Damm I have a certain urge for some apples...go figure!

Great work doc! :) Off topic but is it the 20/20p that you have or 20/20bas? I'll have the 20/20bas next week if ups dont kill-em, but I listened to a pair of them last year sitting right next to a pair of mackies a/b them for a good thirty min, and the only thing I could hear was the mackies had a (tad mind you)more bass detail. but they really sounded sweet! ROCK ON DOC!

I'm glad you took my "advice"...and now I've decided to stop talking and start *doing* as well. I haven't posted to the clinic in months!

Anyway, this tune is wild as always doc. What's your writing philosophy or "style". I'm hearing some sort of patterns in your music, but it's very bizzare. Or maybe it's random and my brain is inventing patterns? Very hipnotic!

Doc, thats one clean and happenin' mix. You have a way of making the odd-metered music work. This would be an excellent soundtrack for a safari 'big game' hunt (just the first thing that came to mind listening to this piece).

I wish you would post something crappy...my inferiority complex grows and grows.....the drums particularly hooked me.....gibs

Kinda has an Electronic Weather Report feel to it...a fusion jazz aura..cool.

Thanks for all your kind comments.
Slack- You're not hypnotized or hallucinating; I think the signature of this style of music is the blending of 100% quantized lines with other lines recorded live at half speed.
The drums were (almost) completely canned.
I start with a can-opener and then slice and dice the contents.

drstawl,
Very interesting and fun to listen to. It made me think of sitting up in an apple tree on a sunny summer day (not doing anything illegal) but just eating apples for some reason. At least thats what it made me think of. I'd rather be doing that than what I'm doing now I guess. So thank you drstawl.

Hey Doc, your stuff always blows my mind; as a matter of fact I'm gonna save all the stuff I have of yours and check it out again in an altered state. :)
This seemed to start out with a melody, build, build, and sort of break down into an organized chaos - I can dig it.
After reading bobbo's review - I can see where he's coming from. Now hearing this tune I can't think of anything else but eating apples in a tree. :)

Nice work Doc, keep them coming.

Don't forget to sing now and then, we likey!!

If I was Jerry Garcia, I'd play a *scorching* guitar figure against this. Instead, I'll content myself with dancing to this. GT's got it - imagine this with voice coming in at the end... Staggering good music, man. The sound of success is sweet. :)

JJim: Yes- altered is the way to go.
To clarify for the rest of the crowd:
The required alteration is a function
of individual brain chemistry.

David: Well that piddle mp3 wasn't a "song" per se, just a demonstration of the long distance effects of normal sounds in my studio.
My computer fan played a prominent role.

I'm trying to get inspired like I was the evening I recorded those Cat Brains vocals but it hasn't happened yet.
I'm never gonna give up, so don't let it keep you up at night.
Why does this fresh squeezed tangerine screwdriver taste like apple juice?

Dobro: Write me some lyrics!

Oh yeah! Event 20/20 passives powered by a garbage 60W SONY receiver. It sure beats the hell out of those Fishers found in the trash.

How you can get that much going on without it sounding TOO busy is a mystery to me. Very strong composition; if I didn't already know how much you incorporate MIDI into your work, I'd swear I heard one of those Burger King Pickle-o's in there somewhere. How're the chickens? :)

dmc

What do those Burger King Pickle-O's sound like? I'm intrigued. As to how to interject complexity without confusing the issue:
I limit any particular passage to 3 parts
and audition these in pairs as well as all together. How many auditions is that in total? First correct respondent gets an unusual CD. The parts may consist of many more tracks than that but they're playing previously certified compatible material.

The chickens:
Oh- they were delicious. Rosa especially.

CW 6 for MIDI and Vegas Pro for the recording. Jammer Pro for the basis of the drums, then CW to edit those .mid files.
