I just archived all the stuff at my website as of 11/11/00
to one CD. Came out to ~25 minutes spread over 35MB at various encoding rates.
Played against a backdrop of the rest of the tunes in the Gallery this latest piece is somewhat of a departure. Even for me... :)
There were a lot more lines played at very low frequencies.
Did they come out crisp enough to make them out?

#16 in the MP3 Gallery.
"n100c_256.mp3": (3222 KB 256Kbps.mp3)

Sorry about the fat 256 format, but I first encoded at 128 and it sounded like shit.

I tried D/L several times...keeps cutting me off?
I did manage to get :30 sec of #16...sounds pretty crispy to me. That standup bass holds it's own quite well.

Listened...Everything seems crisp to me. I am curious as to how you achieve your recordings,(what gear you use). Is it sampled keyboard sounds? What do you use to record etc. Always excellent fidelity.

I had no problem with 256kps. I guess it's just a matter of how current your media player is.

Good work

Your music (not just this particular tune) reminds me a bit of Zappa's synclavier material. Also a bit of Conlon Nancarrow here and there. But I think you have your own "thing" too. Your Debussy - Satie - Ives piece is total genius.

How do you go about composing your music? Are you using any classical composition techniques (serialism, 12 tone)?

Keep up the good work.

PS. I had problems downloading at home too (56k modem)...got cut off a couple of times. No problem from work though.

The how and such

Rusty K: I use a Sound Canvas SC-88 fed to a dbx 386 tube pre/converter/ out from there via coax S/PDIF into a Gina card. Using Vegas Pro to track/ Sound Forge to edit. The mp3 encoder is within Vegas Pro.
futuredays: Mostly it starts with an itch to play something through the Canvas. The pieces grow from several "seed" lines that I enter in CW any which way I can. Playing it in with a MIDI controller or using the staff view or the piano roll view. From there I listen to the whole thing and then small sections at a time to decide if anything needs to be added. Mostly use the staff view at this stage.
I think my ISP was having trouble the past few days. They cut me off as well during a test download. But I've had reports of modem users getting this treatment regularly.
Thanks for your patience.

Catchy tune. I've never had a bass response like that out of my little Yamaha PC speakers before. No problem downloading (I have a T1 line).

Wow crispy like perfectly done bacon and short enough not to trip over itself.

I like the piano stuff in there and the harp, well there's a lot in there.

Umm. Rock n' Roll.
