I had posted a thread on why my mic wasn't as sensitive and I took the advice of buying another preamp that would go into my Lexicon. I got the vtb and its awesome! Very warm and clear, I was just wondering how I could add some punch to my distortion.

Just turn all the knobs fully clockwise. :D :D :D

What are you getting distortion from?

His amp probbly.

Mess with whatever you can, compression/eq/anything you can to get the right sound.

hahaha no if i turn all my knobs my recording will sound like shit on a stick. What Im using is an rp300A effects processor with a rectifier amp model going to a crate gx65 . I have it at -5 bass 4 mids and 8 treble and my amp has 4 bass 6 mids and all highs. My sm57 is about 6 inches from the speaker and 2 inches to the left of the cone. Its going through the VTB preamp at 50 gain with a tube blen level 4 and my output is -3 and from that it goes to the lexicon preamp and its at the third knotch. I will post some recordings on my purevolume this week to show yall but for now ill describe the sound. Its crunchy, warm and clear but it doesnt sound like its hitting me in the face. Its kinda like just there...

Play the part twice or more and see what you get. It should get "bigger".

O yea I did that too. Panned one hard to the left and the other to the right. It sounds thick but not in my face. Im not sure how to decribe.

Pan them closer together. Like 10:00 and 10:30. You are taking up too much space in the mix.
