Man your voice is real cool, I say bring it up a notch in the mix. Love the rhythm guitar sound. Jangly and catchy as hell. Bass sounds good on my system. Kind of a psychedelic feel, I love stuff like this. I still gotta check out your album sometime too, just cool stuff to listen to. Back to this track.. maybe add some B3 type organ in the outro part  just an idea. Overall, yeah I loved it. Listening on my system all I say is a little more vocal clarity or volume. cool

Hi,
I've actually found time to drop in & listen (work has been...work). I get to listen to LPC 1st up. Cool.
A real Abbey Road feel to my ears - gently psych but with good pop guitars.
The intro riff is as cool as ...
I love the dark change.
Plenty of lyrical twists too.
Is it my system ot are the drum leaning a little?
What bass is Incanus using? Very nice tone.
Thank you for giving my dial a smile.

Cool guitars. I love the tones & melodies. Nice change @ 1.50. The intertwined vocal/guitar phrasing is real nice. No nits on the mix, everything's blended well. Solid foundations, well constructed cool tune

It might be the MP3 format, but I found the mix could use a bit more in the lower frequencies. Just a bit more bottom end.
No other nits - as always this is an excellent bit of writing and playing. The instruments and vocals are well mixed and blend nicely together.
LPC rules!

Great Job !

:) :D :) :D

Oh yeah!!!

I Love LPC.

First of great tune.
Very catchy, great playing and as allways great vox.

I really love the bass lines on this track, very unique and very prog

The song itself sounds kinda late 70`s sorta police\rush\ ZEP  kinda sounding.

It also sounds more dirty than your other stuff, a bit less "produced", more in your face. Btw I mean this in a good way.

Its great hearing your guys at work again, I hope you keep those pieces of art comming.

That bass tone and playing was nothing short of awesome! Hell, the whole song was. I keep saying I'm going to buy a cd of you guy's, and I'm gonna do it damnit!..just not today. :p . Another great tune, keep it up guys.

First Class!

So this song is pretty well done. :)

The guitar playing, drumming, bass playing and singing are all done very nicely. Very much emotion. :)

Sounds somewhat Cheaptrick also. Or maybe if it had heavier keyboard influences. :)

Anyhoo, great great track.

I agree with most of what has been said....cool tune, and some great playing. Could use a bit more bottom end overall, just to fill it out that much more. The overall sound quality is very good...just seems to be lacking a small amount of bottom end compared to some of your other tunes.

Awesome song though....

Thanks everybody, for the listen!!

Snakedog- B3 is a great idea. There may be a way to get that in the last passage without making too much mud. Thanks!!

RayC - Steve's using an American Jazz bass. The snare is a little offset because the overheads are dead center over my kit. So the snare is closer to the HH than the kick. Good ears.

Bulls - thanks very very much. Incanus does have a lot of talent, so I try to hold him back some.

Idol, DogMan, and Tim - we just put in superchunk bass traps and a slew of broadband absorbers- as well as upgrading our OH mics and pres. It's a lame excuse, but in the room it sounded pretty balanced. Yeah, that is a bad excuse.

I guess we have lots of work to do... Do you recommend we eq the whole thing at mix or master.. Or do you suggest I try to fill out one of the instrument tracks?

I hear a lot going on in the midrange here, with my voice and the guitars. Any recommendations on how to approach? I'm open to anything, including recording the parts over again. Maybe use the settings on the back of my monitors to suck out some bass?

It also dosen't help that my car seems to hype the bass too. I had to roll off a little bass while listening to this song.

Freshears - Thanks for the listen!

Pretty much ditto! Very cool song and great mix! Little more bottom here and there. To me there are a couple spots the vocals while excelent are a bit harsh on the ears. Only a couple spots though. And it's not the only song I have ever thought that about many of them have gold albums so take it for what it's worth. Just seemed to happen at not too awfull high of volumes in two or three spots.

Over all very cool and tight. Really impressed.

Man...tough call what to do....I played with it a bit, in Audition, and trying to boost teh low end on the whole mix didn't do the song justice. Maybe try a remix, and give the bass, and kick a small amount more depth that way, so it doesn't mess up the whole mix. That way you don't lose what you have. This is really good as is, just not the same as some of your other tunes. To me, it just seems the bass and kick wouldn't hurt to have more low end. Just enoght to fill the bottom out. The vocals and guitar sit pretty good...and the rest of teh drums come through. I like the punchiness of the bass, so if you could leave that, and just let the bottom through a bit more.

Hope that helps.... :D

I dropped it into reaper and boosted the lows and low mids with a shelf at 350 +2 dB, and did a 2 dB cut at 6 kHz with a Q1 bell, and I liked the sound. I also added just a little short verb and liked that on it too.

But that's all miniscule. It's really a great song and arrangement.

Thanks everyone!

You guys are great; and irreplaceably helpful (I doubt I spelled that right).

Like most of our songs, we do our initial arrangement with me on guit and Casey on drums, and that's all we get to hear for a good, long while. And then they usually develop quite a bit when we add the other instruments and vox. But this one really went off in some surprising directions. I had planned on doing a less busy bass-line, but. . . In any event, Casey came up with a lot of the bass parts himself for this. But I bet all the unused ideas for this song would fill most of a CD!!

Yes, I love my J-bass. I will never part with it.

B3 is a good idea, but we would probably have to deal with the background vocals in some fashion there as they provide a sort of 'pad' as well.

And we'll Definitely have to play around with the low end and mid-range issues in this mix.

Thanks for listening to the track.

Much better....bottom end is definitely there now. I'm listening on earbuds now and the bass guitar seems a tad hot...great tone but maybe a bit hot.

Good tune.....no....great tune..... :)

Whew!! Turning up the bass when you hear too much bass is counterintuitive. I'm glad to know I overdid it a bit.

I'll go try again.

*edit*

Splitting the difference now...

Sounds a bit more full to me...seems to have a bit more depth in the bottom end, and the bass seems more lively.

I'm liking this one a bit better.

Sounds great! On you're comment. There is plenty of room to feel the bass in this song. I feel it now and it's not masking anything.
