Well I see a lot of posts about all the new equipment people are using. I don't see a lot of old equipment being talked about. In these current economic times, (and any other really...ha) I don't have a lot of money. So when I needed to start recording I ended up buying an old school Tascam 414. I searched the Tascam website for the manual and came up with the 414 mk II manual. Funny thing is when reading the manual, I noticed certain differences that leads me to believe it's not the same verson I have. One notable difference is the lack of the "guitar channel". The middle position for the track control pannel on mine clearly says off, and not guitar like the diagrams show. Plus the guitar/effects line in is missing the jack also that the diagram shows. All that is there is av hook ups for effects. Other than that, and the missing trim knob for the guitar line as well, they're very much the same. Once I'm done with the recording, I sort of jerry rig the 4 track to my computer, through the line in. (on the account that my mic line is messed up.) Anyways I'm wondering if there is any one else still using stuff this old, and if it's any different than mine how do you transfer it to the computer?
