What color should I paint my control room/office???

Why paint. Try floral wallpaper!!! Just kidding. Here's a question for you... What's your favorite color? I'd suggest using a color that compliments your favorite color so you can use your favorite color for accent pieces. No favorite color????? Then take a dart and a scarf to the paint store.blindfold yourself and throw the dart at the rack of color cards and whatever color you land on, it's your color!

Well I'm a big fan of the "everything affects everything" philosophy, so I would get all DEEP into it, and like find colors that enhance creativity and inpiration.... do some research on what makes a room FEEL right...

I would read up a bit on how different colors alter your moods, then choose a color that reflects how you want to "set the mood" of the room.

You probably think I'm trippin', but seriously, I studied this in psychology. I think it's even considered a "behavioral science"

(i.e.- Fast food restaurants would paint their walls certain colors so people would'nt linger too long in their restaurants ).

OR you can just paint it white (or another highly relfective color) and change the colors of the room using gels, colored lights, etc.

A couple of areas that may affect your choices is your flooring material and whether you use pre-colored foam acoustical products, or fabric covered absorbers. Your fabric choice will affect the color adjacent to it, so you might want to start there. At least you can change paint easily. Not fabric.

I would suggest something in a maroon or green, cause every place I have ever been in was one of those two. Plus then when you get the beige/grey/brown wall traps and such(it is mandatory that traps and abosrobers be the ugliest colour possible lol) then they will compliment the paint!

I painted the ceiling in my home studio a super white, the walls are a mint green, and the moulding is a dark green.

There have been studies that green is easy on the eyes, and makes for a restful, creative environment.

My last home studio was mostly blue... the ceiling of course was white but the walls were navy and the mouldings were black. It was very dark, even with tons of lights around the room.

I've always shy'd away from lighter colors but lately I'm finding at least for myself, that the documentation that lighter greens are easy on the eyes seem to be true.

Frederic do you have pictures of your green studio?

The problem is this bedroom that is now becoming my office/control room has a darker brown carpet, I just don't know if I could get a green to go with it...maybe I could. As far as acoustical treatments, I am planning on 703 panels, not sure on the color, but GOM has a good selection of acousticly transparent material in a range of colors.

Ok I found this picture in the big show us your studio thread (hope the owner of the pic doesn't mind me sharing it here), its not really a green, on my monitor its more of a blue green, but maybe I could get it to work.

Hmm, gonna have to do some more thinking on this....

Click "studio" then "Construction 8" (I think, might be 7). That's about where I started painting, and taking less pictures.

Should be some mint-green walls, and dark green moulding pics.

If you click "console table" you'll also see some pics of the room while I'm assembling the console table, which I painted with a dark green to match the moulding for contrast in the room.

When I put the first coat of mint green on I went "eeew, this is disgusting" and seriously considered painting over it with a little darker green. But you know what, it grew on me and the several people who have been in here (friends and clients) have all complimented the color scheme (but not the mess on the floor LMAO).

hey SRR, that was what my studio used to be like. come on a long way since then. Anyway, the colour of this was a bit dull for me, hard to light so iv painted one of the larger walls white and put some huge leeds festival posters on it.

hehe that was a hell of a shock to see my room!

Wife is coming home with color swatchs tonight from the green/blue/teal area, maybe we can find something we errrrr I like from that bunch (I say "I" not cause my wife doesn't have a say in this household but the room will get used by me 95% of the time, so "I" have to live with it).

Forget the swatches.

Go to the home depot or lowes, and look at the color charts on their wall. like, a million colors.

Well we went with a teal/green or is it a green/teal. Either way its bold, and as my sister said, "green makes you love life", I am so loving life now......or something like that. I will share pics when we are done moving things. Which could take another week or two.

Teal/green. Thats what I'm using as well. I love it. Especially since I have a bunch of stuff for the studio with Teal/green translucent plexiglass that I use as linear lighting lens. Even my console.

This is how it turned out, I also posted these in the big see your studio thread. Paint is darker then these pictures let on. Curtains are going to be changed as we have some on order.
