The Mirror - Punk Rock Video

I don't like everything. I don't see how having an open mind has anything to do with being flakey.

Punk rock is cool, but it's not the best. I mean most of it is really simple 3 chord songs with very little actual "in tune" singing. If you listen to most of the recordings before 1989, you'll notice that most of the all time classics sound like shit.

Do I like it sure, but not because they blew my mind musically. It's just damn fun to listen to :D

There isn't really any point in arguing over opinion. It's like that old saying "opinions are like assholes"

I would like to hear what some of the music you think is so great, Greg. Just out of curiosity :P
 
I like most classic punk and hard rock that leans towards punk rock. I think Turbonegro is great example of a current band that walks the line between punk and hard rock, and they're one of my favorites. Love em. Zeke is another. And of course, I love the Ramones - my favorite band ever. Simple rock doesn't bother me. I prefer it. I don't need or want a message or virtuosity in music. 3 chords played hard and fast is just fine with me.
 
The Ramones is a great example of what I'm talking about. They are one of my favorite bands as well. Truth is their studio albums sound pretty damn good, but when they play live it's obvious how much they sound like shit. :laughings:

30 seconds of zeke was enough for me LOL

Turbonegro was better in my opinion, but the video of them in cowboy goth/homo apparel, make up and all, didn't do much for me... :D

Turbonegro's schtick is comedic offense and strange sexuality. They're awesome as fuck! Pure rock and roll. Love em.

Zeke is like Motorhead on speed.

I totally disagree about the Ramones. Their live performances were awesome. Best shows I've ever seen.
 
Some friends of mine don't understand why people think the Ramones are so great. One of my buddies thought it was just total shit after watching a lot of live performances on youtube. After that he just didn't want to give them a chance any more :laughings:

I saw the Ramones 4 times across their international touring career: early & late, pubs & theatres. Each time the performance was top notch, usually incredible but never less than top notch. Good live sound mix, good instrument tone & even good stage clothes until Joey started wearing spandex tights.
I don't think the sound & vid quality of utube could be reasonably used in the determination of a live bands worth. There are too many variables re recording to make a reasonable call.
 
I agree. You simply have to had see them in person. Youtube doesn't cut it. I've seen the Ramones 6 times. I was never disappointed. 1-2-3-4!

I choose my friends based on the quality of their charactor, not their disslike for pop punk.

The ramones are awesome, but honestly they aren't greatest...
