So we all want to know about this $99 SCM 900 don't we???
Well here's the deal...I opened a gift from my brother today and what did I see? It was a SCM 900 staring at me...
Anyway...For the price I think this mic is a pretty good deal. It's built fairly well(thick brass casing)and it's insides do seem to be constructed and soldered well. Don't expect to be able to drop it a lot or anything (I really wouldn't reccommend that with any mic though!)
Someone asked in another post how it compares to an SM-57 so of course my brother and I had to A/B it with a 57(I've only used it on Acoustic guitar so far.) And the reply is...the 57 sounded a bit thinner and nasally, whereas the 900 sounded more round and full(which I expected.) This mic is definitely not a RODE or a Neumann!!! But you can't expect that for $99 either! If your looking for a budget microphone or your first condenser mic I would probably recommend one of these, but only time will tell how long it lasts...
