Plus I think you are right about keeping the solo subdued at the outro. It sounds like it's supposed to.

Wow, thanks a lot True. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and give such in-depth feedback. :)

I had an internal struggle with the end solo thing. I couldn't decide whether to blast it through or make it subtle. With me screaming "lola" over and over during the last part of the song, I thought it might be too much to have a solo blazing over everything. Maybe I was wrong. I'll go back and play with it some and see if I can get to shine through better without screwing everything else all up.

Once I get it all sorted, I can email you an copy if you'd like. Just PM me your email address.

Thanks again. :)
You are welkom Greg. I love the song...better than the original in fact. I love that ballzy feel it has now. More emotion in it.

I understand the problem with NOT stepping on the outro Lola...but I still think there is a place for a screaming guitar outro...which, in my opinion beats a Lola scream hands down.

It is rare that I hear a cover, that I like better than the original...because most people try to stay too original with it ...and if they aren't really really good at sounding original, it comes out less than more. You weren't afraid to give it some ballz of your own...and with this song, it worked and worked well!

Thank you...pm on the way!! :)

Nice job on this greg. Brings back some memories.

I remember the first time i heard this song. My girlfriend's neighbor took an interest in my guitar playing hobby and asked me to learn 'Lola'. I was 14 or 15 and had never heard it before. I thought it was a little hokey at the time but I learned it any way and he was ecstatic. I just learned the guitar parts and didn't pay any attention to the lyrics so I didn't know what the song was about.

A couple of years later I was driving and Lola came on the radio. I heard the lyrics that time and got a lot more than just the meaning of the song. I realized that my girlfriend's neighbor was a drag queen and his 'room mates' were more than room mates. I had a hundred flashbacks at that moment and the whole thing blew my mind. :p They were all pretty nice guys and never tried to pull my wang or stick me with a knife but how did I not see it before?

Thanks for sharing Travis:D

F.S.

your welcome.

for future reference, if you have a friend that constantly sketches female twenty somethings in designer clothing, using pastels, he might be a drag queen, or maybe he's a women's clothing designer living in arkansas (yea right!). if he has a muscled up tan friend named Chip, that's another clue. if your friend and Chip ask you to leave so that they can get dressed for a party, there's another. if your fully grown man friend cries over getting the wrong dish in his chinese to go box, well......he might just really love kung pao chicken. if your friend has exceptionally hairless arms and legs, maybe he's a swimmer.

Wow - great arrangement Greg. Lots of power and punch. Dynamite vocals and playing throughout. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.... :D

wow

Well...not that it hasn't been said a bunch already, but I think this is really freakin' great.

The drums and bass are solid and have a nice natural sound. Vocals are way cool and very faithful to the original. The electric guitar is certainly a little more modern sounding than the kinks, but that makes it your own.

Really, really well done! :)

wow awesome. greg l is my favorite guy on this forum.

That sucked, just like all your other offerings. :D

Literally my only nit is that the fade seemed a bit abrupt in light of the fact that it's a "singalong" kind of ending.

I guarantee you spent more time on that recording than the Kinks ever spent on an entire album. Awesome.
