A work in progress.

This might not be the next no.1 pop hit  :D

Music by Stravinsky until I ruined it. I play a lot of violins and a lot of synths on this monster. Enjoy, or at least do what's appropriate :p

As Always:
Dont try this at home Kids.

This is an amazing bit of musical performance - you are quite simply top notch DavidK. The dynamics create an imagery that take me around an imaginary room full of "musicians" - front to back and side to side. The swells/crescendos that happen a couple of times in the piece were very thick with feeling and power... The violins are excellent. The synth sounds are quite nice - horns and bells especially. I don't think I'll be trying this at home anytime soon (lol). I always enjoy your work and this one (as usual) is outstanding!

That king is one ugly dude though....

Holy Cow man!!!! (edited to not offend...) Nice stuff. This is pretty dramatic. I believe I've heard this piece before. Pretty cool. The sounds are just spectacular. It's just so big sounding. Tons happening, and a lot of emotion to it. The drama...oh the drama..... :D
Man, that is a pretty cool piece. I haven't seen something like the Wizard Of Oz in quite a while, but it makes me think of something that is otherwolrdly, like that. It does not bring to mind, simple, normal stuff. Very fantasy oriented.

Nice job man...really nice.

Damn, thats the best part of the piece! :D

Wizard Of Oz

Yup. I played the ballet this is taken from in January ( the Ballet is called " The Firebird") and it's very fantasy-oriented, it looks like an acid trip.

Thanks for checkin this beast out fellas. As I said, its a work in progress and its missing a bunch of tracks.

Very nice David. Wonderful violin work.

Struck me that it might sound good to change the balance a bit from what an orchestra might do and emphasize the fiddle more since it sounds so good. Just an idea. The synth sounds are really nice but they just don't get me like the real instrument does. Wonder how it would sound to replace a small number of select parts with violin lines, as long as they contrasted with existing violin parts... a pizzicato part against legato bowing, etc.

A bunch of this is coming Tim. I have a lot more string parts written out and ready to record, I just gotta do em.

I was thinkin about putting drums on this sucka. I dont really know if it is possible, any ideas? I cant imagine a "real" drummer doing it with the tempo changes at the end, the tempo grid on this thing is fairly insane. Thanks for checkin it out, it has a lot of work left, and mixing it properly will be a nightmare.

Thanks for the bump Ed, but the deafening silence on this one is very educational to me. I can never predict which of my classical "crossover" stuff will be a hit and which will flop. I put one on here with a rock beat and guitars and it was a "hit". The best one ( Malinconia) was a huge flop here and the other place. It actually helps me to know this for figuring out how to present this stuff to record labels. Granted, this isnt exactly my target audience... :p I guess this one is way more complicated than the average Joe can handle, cause its a good recording. Hold me :o

I've noticed that in the last couple months the rate of new tunes and responses in the clinic has skyrocketed. Maybe a seasonal thing? Dunno, as I just started here last March. So something good can be put up and disappear to page 2 oblivion overnight. I don't think it's lack of interest or lack of people who enjoy intense listening. Some of the listeners who usually comment on the intricate harder-listening stuff seem to drop by maybe every few days, so will miss things that get moved off of page 1 quickly. I'll probably have some more comments on this one before it goes to page 2. :D

Tim

I think I agree with Tim. Has nothing to do with your tune, it just gets put down towards the bottom, or page 2, and then it dissapears from view. Keep bumping the sucker. It's only been a week, and look at the number of new tunes that have arrived. Bump it for another week or so...get more listens.

David,

I love listening to this type of music as long as it tells a story and doesn't stagnate!
Nice work......I love the neverending transition in the change of scenes all the way through. Very dramatic, with a sense of building, climbing, taking the listener along on this very busy and hectic insane ride!

Never a dull moment and the recording sounded great to me on my stereo system!

Thanx for sharing Dave!

Kev :)

This is an amazing piece. Why do you bother hangin' with us mere mortals?

nice stuff, David. This one is probably the best one in my opinion.... maybe 'cause it's Igor :)

I have noticed that this clinic has changed significantly over the last couple of years. It used to be you could easily get 20 or more responses on your stuff in a day or two, if you were a good responder too. Additionally, there weren't so many new tunes either. At the other place, the size is about the same(as it was here a couple years back), but it is quite different for some reason....kinda like a fragment group from here that is very loyal to each other...whether something is really good or not.

I have posted some real "slop" here myself in the last year, and basically, it got ZERO feedback. Not really unexpected, but the bulk of my 4000+ posts were basically compiled here in the MP3 clinic. Now, I am probably one of the highest posters in this BBS, but nobody knows who the heck I am. I just occasionally dart around the other forums... ask a guitar question here...a "cave answer" there.... etc, etc. I think the ONLY reason anyone recognizes my name at the other place, is because of my presence here in this clinic. But... the old like me die off, and the new generation comes quickly in.... oh...I am tired... I must rest...sit down.. (as you might say..."hold me"!! )

Which gives me an idea. We'll see what happens.

This is great!! Love the Violins!! Excellent!!!   Ever thought of adding some Lead Axe tracks to it?? That is what real Acid-heads would do.

Thanks for checkin this out folks. There are still about twenty tracks left to record on this. I'm frightened, hold me :(
