and what is hiphop anyway, its an artform.
if i paint a picture, some people might not like it,does that disqualify it from being art?
i dont think so.what he does is an artform like it or not.

I kind of don't agree!
I don't think Hiphop is an "Artform"......I think Hiphops in it's original form was a life style. The whole B-Boy, having a crew, block party routine thing....I do not consider alot of Rap today as Hiphop. It, to me, is simply rap! You can say rap is an artform, for there are many variations of rap. Hiphop is a variation of rap.....Crunk Music, Gangsta Music, Master P's "Bounce Music", is not Hiphop, it is Rap.....RunDMC, KRS one, LL, Fatboys, Kool Moe Dee, Kurtis Blow, that was hiphop....Hiphop doesn't exist as much today. A cat like NAS could rock a Hiphop cut if he wanted to, but it is a different era, so it might not work. Hiphop is gone, and replaced with Guns, Drugs, Women, and cursing! I am not hating, but I don't think todays music can be called hiphop........When hiphop was rocking, people came for one thing, at that was to Party! IMO Now don't get me wrong, what Kanye is doing is different, and it is good for rap. He brought sampling, unlike anyone else, to mainstream music across the globe. That is comendable! Like someone already said, I don't have to like him, I respect him! It is his season to shine, so "Get yo shine on K to the anye".............

Being that i'm soon to be 32 and have seen how hip hop went from then to now, I cant help but agree with every word in the above statement Except the comment about hip hop being a variation of rap. Hip Hop is the mother of all of these [Crunk Music, Gangsta Music, Bounce Music] and any other variation. Eventually Hip Hop and Disco had an affair and gave birth to House music which later provided hip hop with grandchildren in the way of Trance, D&B,etc. All things rap came from Hip Hop

Every now and then a hip hop artist or 2 comes and gives us something that we can really use to keep us from just falling into monotony. For me Kanye did that when he first dropped, before that Fugees with "The Score". And Outkast does it with every album they drop IMO.
