dear fellow newbies:
as some of you, undoubtedly like me, are trying to put together a DAW PC from scratch and get it all formatted, set up correctly, and optimized, there is a thread that I found (it's actually at the top of the computer recording section) that YOU ALL MUST READ.

This information is, well to understate, a bit old.

SCSI drives? Overkill these days, IDE is pretty fast and SATA is defintly fast enough

Modems? Come on.

IRQ's? I haven't had a problem with IRQ's since Windows 98.

Floppy Drives? I haven't built a system in the past 3 years with one.
