The excitement is too much

I think my PC may finally be working!!!!! I've just put Win 98SE on a fresh hard disk, stuck all the drivers and software on there and at this point it appears to be working!

For those of you who missed the saga around Christmas, basically I had loads of clicks and pops that we couldn't get to the bottom of. Only having on XP licence I was trying to service that install, but when I put a temporary unactivated install on another drive everything worked fine with the same drivers. So I've bit the bullet and gone back to 98SE :( ... but if it works, I'll be a happy bunny. This has been my first chance to get it sorted, apart from all the other chances I squandered by posting useless tosh on here instead.

The final update will come in the next 24 hours by which time I will know whether or not I have been succesful! Then I can re-discover my favourite hobby all over again for real!!!!!! :):):):):):):)

XP's working fine for me so far,but I cant think of anything it's doing that '98 didn't do!
You can also put '98 on as many comps as you like(not that anyone would do that,as it would be unlawful! :D )
 
All seems to be ok so far, have recalled my mics from their various places on loan so maybe ... just maybe!!!! :)

yeah and I'm still waiting on a yamaha and soundcraft comparison
 
Ah, crap. Well, everything's working except ... Tracktion. My old cracked Cubase VST 5.0 is fine but I don't wanna use that any more. Everything done in Tracktion comes out sounding like it's been put through some kinda digital blender. Trying to find anyone else in the world who uses Tracktion on W98SE ... but their forums are all fairly limited.

Wish I could afford a newer Cubase :(

It's doing my freaking head in! I'm sat here with all this gear, and can't do jack with it!!! ARGH!!! And I'm severely late for work!!! Today is a crap, crap day.

Just downright pissed off. It's 11:15pm so I'm not refreshed in any sense!! :)

eeeh, I hate to see this.... I know you don't want to go back to the cracked program, but you might have to...

I tried to put Tracktion on my old pc (XP Home), and it froze and crashed on me...
 
Hmmm. What are my options? There's nothing wrong with my PC or my hardware, the signal's going through fine and in Cubase recorded with no glitches. I was going to throw my cracked Cubase disc away but I saved a bunch of free plug-ins on it that I need to retrieve first ... now I just don't know what to do.

Am gonna try to talk uni into giving my a free copy of SL when they upgrade to version 3.

If Cubase is working ok, and it's not what was causing the problems, I'd say just download it and use it until you get something better...
 
There's always the N-track option, only $50 US legal and legit (that's legitimate, noisy! :D )...

D/L the trial version. It's crippled, but at least you can have a look-see.

Good luck noise, hope you get it all sorted out...
