I think I have more Bowie covers lying around somewhere!

Pls check out my entire set list, at:
http://www.soundclick.com/davemania

Any of you BBS heads who have Bowie covers to showcase may tag them onto this thread! Please do! If you don't have any Bowie covers, get crackin' and record some! ;) Thanx!! ;)

PS: Please don't dog me for doing covers, (it won't change anything),... and please don't hate me because I'm beautiful! ;)

Man, some good stuff here. You are a busy man. I don't know any Bowie songs, but might try and do something, just to play and have fun.

On R&R Suicide, you did an excellent job on the vox!!!! It definitely has a Bowie flair. I really dig that one. Way cool.

And Dog ob ya for covers....someone might, but I dig covers. Shows ya having some fun. That's what it's all about....fun baby.... :D

Yeah, hey.

The Bealtes had their cover thread, and the Ramones had their rumble,... both of which are not over yet, as long as I'm around,... and even Barry Manilow had a tribute thread  ,... so here's my David Bowie cover thread!

You & some other guys here can bang out the tunz daily like it's nothin', and I've always admired that. I just record what I can when the inspiration hitz me. Lately, that's not often, but I think I'm warming up to doing something new, maybe soon! Actually, I have the inspiration, but can never find the time!! If I could just bang a song out in an afternoon, I'd do it, and that's more how it was in my 20's, but I'll tell'ya,... being over 40 sucks!

Anyway, I always look to you and some other headz on this board in awe, when you bang out tune after tune! I wanna do more new stuff, and I'll just have to make the time!

It is all just for fun, too, like you said!

Thanx again! ;)

HAd to check out Rock & Roll suicide since thats my favorite period for Bowie...Sounds real good..like your vocals alot...you put alot of emotion into your covers and I can tell you really dig the music/bands which you pay tribute to...Keep em' coming!

Yo, hey, thanx,...

all you guyz!....... ;)

Aaaaggghhh!!! Thanx for reminding me!!!

I have that one too, & it's one of my best productions ever!... (if I do say so myself!) I'll have to post it later tonight, so standby for that!!

;)

im workin' on "Panic In Detroit"....should be pretty lame but what the hell....

Gosh, that's one of my favorites!

If anyone can do it, you can do it. I always found "Panic in Detroit" to be a difficult one, mostly for the "walking" bass, which I could never figure out,... (or was that a guitar riff? I can't remember! Bass, I think!) I'll have to re-listen to that one later tonight!

I can't wait to hear your version!

I'll think about workin' up some new stuff, too!

Thanx for listening and participating!!;)

I said I'd post this, so here you go.

(I had this up about 6 months ago, but took it down).

This was a smashing good time to record, and I think I got a smashing good hifi sound! I forgot to engage the dbx button on this one, so for those of you who were curious, this is what the 388 sounds like without noise reduction. All you tapeheads... Enjoy!

Now out for it's second run, let's hear it for,...

"Moonage Daydream"
Recorded in 2003 on the Tascam 388, @ 7.5 ips & with NO NR, using SM57 mics and a Proco Road Kill distortion pedal on the electric guitars.

Here's your bonus track of the night!

"The Gospel According to Tony Day!"
http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=3451031&q=hi

Recorded in 1987/1999 on the Tascam 38, @ 15 ips & w/No NR, using the M30 mixer and Tascam ME-10 & Shure SM57 mics.

... A Bowie cover track for all of you deep-cut Bowie album fanatics, as lifted off the Bowie Decca '66-'67 cds. Only the most hardcore Bowie fanatics will have ever heard this song before, (I think),... but I produced a version as a solo effort,... so what's that say about me?

Ok, I admit I'm one of the biggest Bowie fans ever!

R U Surprised? ;)

I'm sure someone has a Bowie cover they'd like to post here!

Don't you?

Still working on "Panic In Detroit"....
Here is a cover of "Ziggy Stardust" I did a while ago....

ZIGGY

Thank you!

I've always liked your "Ziggy" cover. I found it on Soundclick and was a big fan of yours, long before I saw you on this board. I mean that!;)

I listened to "Panic in Detroit" the other day, many times over. I've always loved that song. In fact, I just scored a new CD of "David Live" from Amazon, based on that cut being a "bonus track",... never before released on that album! Anyway, that's a hot song, on a great album!!

Yo peeps, I gotta 'nother coupl'a cuts to lay on'ya, this time lifted off the "Aladdin Sane" album!

These are just stripped, live-in-studio jams, so take 'em for what it's worth!!

"Cracked Actor"
http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=3467479&q=hi
Recorded on 08/06/98 live-to-stereo onto standard cassette, using an X/Y mic technique.

"Time"
http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=3467500&q=hi
Recorded on 09/05/97 live-to-stereo onto VHS-Hifi, using an X/Y mic technique.

Thanx again!!

Great stuff!

Msg to A Reel person, when trying to listen to Bowie's Station To Station, the song played is Lennon's It's Only Love. Is it possible to fix it?

Anyway, once again, you, guys, are really great.
Keep 'em coming! ;)

Ooh, that's an interesting twist!!!

I'll have to check & fix that asap!!!

Aaaaagggghhhh!!!

[EDIT] The link's fixed!! Thanx again!! [/EDIT]
