Ok, on the DSOTM dvd there's alot of talk about the making of the album. For about 9 years now this has been the best produced/written/and recorded album to me atleast. HUGE INFLUENCE TO ME! People take a listen to it on some fucking surroung sound or at least a good system. Anyways, there's of course a little argument about the mastering compression of the overall album. So what are they referring to? "If I had my guess", I'd say that the compression is on Gilmours vocals in which they decided to do. But of course I could be COMPLETLY wrong. They seem pretty damn powerful on the first few songs than the rest of the music. Anyways, Please share your thoughts about the album AND, what makes it so powerful. I'd really like an outline of the album by SONUSMAN since he's so good!

Dark side isn't a particularly loud or slammin' album at all by today's standards.

It's very dynamic, so I'm assuming that, between Parsons, Waters, and Gilmour, there might have been some natural dissentsion on the topic.

Very likely, one faction liked the idea of preserving the natural dyanmics, while another felt the album should be louder, punchier, more compressed, etc.

In the end, they wound up calling in a third party to mediate ... which is generally the way Pink Floyd would handle their differences. That is, at least until Roger decided he would just call all of the shots and get his way on everything. :D
