So - what exactly is "pushing the boundries" anyway?? If it sounds good and people like it - people like it.
If everyone pushed the boundries we would have all progressive rock bands like Dream Theater or just plain crazy shit like Beck.
Don't get me wrong - as a musician I love technically intense music - but I also like a good melody...

The comment about the drums was right on - the whole mix has a very convincing 60s feel/warmth to it...without sounding like it is even trying for it.
, so I really tried getting into gear, and all that, reading up on the internet, comparing mics, preamps, trying to do things "right", etc. The whole thing was becoming a huge nightmare (long story, but everything was going wrong!), so soon enough, I gave up on the technical stuff. And it's a bit more fun now!
