I'm listening to on computer speakers, but everything sounds good to me. The vox are out front where they should be and the mix sounds spacious. Good job on the vox and the guitars. Overall, sounds like you did a great job on this. May you have much sex and eat until you're full.

This one of my favorite bands of all time! Awesome cover. It sounds like a cross between the live and studio versions. You got the vocal processing down and the guitar parts are right on, even the harmony parts at the end. Cool.

damn Greg, you are like a machine cranking out these tunes! i wish i could record as much as you do, haha. nice work yet again.

Excellent. Drum playing is hot. Everything's rhythmically tight. Nice mix balance - ballsy but clear. Vocal's maybe a tad bright around 6 kHz in spots.

jjtcorsair - Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.

zed - Thanks bro. I really don't spend that much time with it. I always have like 5 or 6 songs in various states of completion. I just keep chipping at them and chipping at them and theres always about 3 that are just about ready at the same time. I've been sitting on this one for about 3 months now and just did a final mixdown this morning.

Tim - Thanks man. I think I agree on the bright vocals. I'm gonna give my ears a break and check it again later.

Thanks again everyone. :)

Guitar tone/playing sounds perfect, just like the original. What kind of guitar/amp did you use if you don't mind me asking?

Vocals sound good too.

Sounds like it was done professionally.

How long have you been recording now?

Thanks man. I've been recording for a little over a year. I've always played music and various instruments so my old lady bought me some stuff Christmas before last and I was off and running. My early stuff was really really bad, but I steadily got better. In fact, joining and reading this site was the best thing that happened to my recording so far. I have learned a ton of shit since joining here, and my recordings have improved immensely and have become a lot more enjoyable. One day I may even write my own song. :p

My guitar setup is pretty basic for all my recordings. For this tune I used my Epi SG through a Digitech RP300A processor into a cheapo no-name 75W combo and I stuck an AT2020 condenser in front of it that runs straight to the Firepod's built-in pre's. I used a Fender Hotrod 2x12 setting in the processor with lots of gain on the left guitar and a lot less on the right. Nothing fancy. I just dial it in to a sound I like and hit record.

man you're lucky you found this place early in your recording stage. i had to unlearn like 4 years of doing shit the wrong way and buying the wrong gear before i found this place! sounds like you're a natural, haha.

Haha. Thanks. Yeah this site is a valuable tool. I actually never even thought of computer-recording until I opened my presents from my wife that Christmas. I was staring at a Tascam US-122 and I had no clue what it was. She installed all the stuff onto the computer, showed me where to hit record, and I was blown away at how cool it was.

I think I got her an omelette maker that year. :p

Gee that sounds good...full sound, great singing, instruments, brilliant.

:)

This friggin' rocks dude!!!!Only small nit I would offer is to hear a bit of a "fatter" bass guitar tone, recently watched a live Thin Lizzy concert on VH1 classic, and have become a huge fan of Phil Lynott's bass tone/style... My "real" band is working on adding "Cowboy Song" to our set...friigin' hard for me as we are only a 3 piece...but man, Thin Lizzy has some great songs!!
We also do "Jailbreak".
Another great one ....awesome listen on a Friday!!!
