The akai machine in question is called the mg 1214.I have worked with one in the past and it was really a kick ass little machine for having 12 tracks on 1/2" tape(yes, beta) running at 7 1/2 ips if I remember correctly.

Darrin,If you don't want to buy that one that is for sale, let me know,I would like to have one if the price isn't too steep.I work master control at a tv station and we have gobs and gobs of beta tape lying around that my boss would probably let me have.

Have a great day all!

How much for the akai? Beta(max) video tapes do not work with unit. The Akai uses a feric oxide tape in the beta(max) shell.

It enabled you to overdrive the pre Master volume Marshall stacks without disturbing the neighbors.

I think your rich list is a little off darrin...

a.) Ringo doesn't have that much money
b.) Madonna is just slightly behind Paul (who is the richest)
c.) Puff Daddy almost surely has more than Page or Plant.

of course, b and c are both kinda "moguls"

Boston was my first concert - Boston Garden. 1978. I'd say it was a great show, but what did I know. They lost me with their later stuff, but I still love that first album. I steal that solo from More Than a Feeling whenever possible.

Atcually Madonna is the second richest person in all of the UK behind the Queen herself.

I only would recently suggest paul because of the 250,000,000 he recived from Insurance on his wife. He was worth about 50,000,000 before.

Page and plant Both enjoy Big bucks, trust me... If a marshall amp made it here in america in the late 60s and early 70's they went though thier hands. And If a fender amp got to the UK at the same time it was through them as well. They got alot more than the beatles for concert tickets and sold more by a hundred fold, Plus at that time Records costed more Concert tickets costed more and Peter Grant Invented the Concert Tee shirt.

The beatles were actually Bankrupt when they started Apple, Lucky for all of us they had great credit, Their best work was after they left Decca. The song rights and such belong to other parties now so Its not generating any more wealth for Paul and Richerd.

For many years the white out fortune has Made Micheal Nesmith of the monkeys Very comfotable.

And Tom Scholtz had a ton of patents, Hes loaded.

I was there. Boy, the Gahden sucked sound-wise (although I do miss it for hockey). What a waste taking my girlfriend and her friend - they just didn't get it...

Exactly... Les Pauls and Ray Bourque... and all the girls care about is hearing the one radio hit ballad and when the "4th period" is over. ;) Go 'lanche!

I saw 4 of the 9 consecutive sold out shows Boston did at the Worcester Centrum when they released Third Stage (back in 85). Oh how I would have loved to have seen the original version....

Even now, 17 years later, I still remember every moment of that show like it was yesterday.

I was there, too. The Worcester show was FAR better. Tom had better musicians with him IMO and the Centrum's sound is far superior to the Garden's.

I wasn't able to search patents before 1976.

Note that just because he has patents doesn't mean he's rich (which is not to say he's not rich). Some of his earlier patents were assigned to Polaroid and some of his later ones were assigned to SR&D.

Check out the Boston BB

Come on over and check out the Boston Bulletin Board on their website www.boston.org

Although we members have long complained about the lack of updates and bandmember posts, there are still a lot of great people there to talk to. You should also check out the "Tech Talk" board, which is frequented by devoted Rockman gearheads.

Strmkr,

If you are after a MG1214, go to the mic forum, in the "Will Nuemann Work" thread the original poster, Project illicit reckons he has one............could be it is for sale.

Then again there is a feeling that the whole post topic could be a joke.
