Going on tour and need a small recording rig to do song demos on the fly. Can anyone suggest the best way of doing this?

What is the best MD Player to use? Microphones? etc.

Thank you.

Maybe not an MD

Thebest MD for the road may no be an MD at all. Look into the iRiver line, which transfers to the computer easier, and therefore will be easier for you to share or use again. If it's just you, the MD might be OK. But as you use it more and more, your collection of MDs will increase. With an iRiver, all of you digital music will end up on your hard drive.

I haven't worked with one, myself. But people who go to guitar seminars talked about using them to record workshops.

I don't know what kinda budget we're looking at but this is what I'm saving for. I've been looking for something to replace my MD8 porta console for recording sketches at practice. Until now, nothing this portable had the specs... upto 24/96 with stereo phantom powered TRS inputs recording onto compact flash cards. I wish it was a little cheaper but I'm still really impressed.
