Small/mid (16mm) diaphragm, tri-pattern, makes it like a . . .?

(. . . a serious question but, yes, with an opening for flamers.)

...decent paperweight...but still embarrassing to have seen on your desk.

Ah . . . option #2 . . . but, from the cogniscenti: what other multi-pattern SDC is out there? Is the new C-3 unique?

. . . is a budget microphone at a very low price.

There is only one test for a microphone . . . how does it sound for that particular application?

If it sounds fine, then you have made a worthwhile investment.

But---does anyone know of or remember a multipattern, SDC? (Housed in one unit, that is---not like interchangeable capsules and pads for Oktava MK-012)

KSM141 has two patterns. And I built the extremely rare and coveted X-8. Well, I built one. It didn't sound that good, so I didn't build a second . . . :o So I guess it's not really coveted.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, I saw the X-8 on your website---and now, by definition, it's unique!

I guess the C-3 is somewhat uniquely configured?

A more important question: Any more info on the X-V? I have a pair each of the original and later MSH-4 mics. The sound reproduction is absolutely scarey (in a GOOD way). The first time I played back a track I remember thinking: "That's what I heard when I was playing it!"

The X-V was delayed because for some reason I decided to pour hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars into the preamp design  But (I hope) that is done, and I'm going to try to crank out a prototype batch of X-Vs over the weekend . . . :o
