When I first came to this board a few weeks ago, I thought Alan Hyatt was being kind of jerky and I didn't want to buy his stuff. Now I have had a chance to grow to appreciate the ambience here and I realize that he was actually quite restrained. Now I want to buy whatever he is selling.
Alan Hyatt wasn't posting here a few weeks ago... but, if you go to his website, there is a bunch of crap there for sell that you can buy... it's like a five and dime store.

I just think it was fitting that Alan found himself a home at the one place on the web that is about the closest to Nazi Germany, cold-war Russia, or third-world China as you can get. Go ahead and try to say anything that is in any way a disparaging remark against anything Sebatron (ahem!) or Studio Projects or Alan or that other guy who's name I won't even mention and watch all your posts get zapped and your account delted. :D

I mean, yea, this forum might have it's problems and disfunctions . . . but . . .

ADK have apparently found a niche there as well..............

Actually Chess, I think Sebatron has played the "tinned meat" game quite well at that other site.............and they welcome him with open arms............go figure.

That was way over the top Chess, you'll have to study history a bit more.

Comparing RO to the nazi/cold war russia/third world china, isn't an act of the intelligence you're often speaking of.

Actually I kind of like RO, although a couple of persons there are not my favorites, but it sure is a helpful forum.

Alright, Han. Why don't you try visiting KF's forum and openly / intentionally disagree with the guy. Make a really good case for your point of view. Tell him you think Sebatron mic pres sound God-awful, and you'd rather have an RNP any day of the week. See what happens to your post and/or account.

While you're at it, go to Alan's forum, and say something like: "Studio Projects mics really aren't my bag. I don't particularly like them, and I think there's much better out there for the money."

:D See how long your post lasts.

The first scenario I agree with...............we've seen it happen too many times before, but how many times have you seen a post deleted in the PMI forum?

I disagreed with Kurt a couple of times and nothing got deleted so far. Maybe it's not what I disagree about but how I do that.

I've never experienced a Sebatron, so I really can't say anything about that.

I never visit Alan's forum.

My reaction on your post was because compairing RO to Nazi Germany is plain stupid IMHO.

Well, obviously I may have exaggerated just a tad to colorfully make a point. :D I'll give you that. But the idea is that you really don't have full freedom of speach over there. People are moderating what you can and can't say, and people are penalized for speaking their minds. It has the overall vibe of a dictatorship in that sense. But obviously no genocide yet as far as I can see. :D

But there are so many great guys at RO as well, Recorderman is a very helpful guy, so is Ethan, and Rod, and I can make a huge list of great members that help each other at RO.

Great expertise also, Knightfly and Eric Desart first come to mind. They really know what they talk about. Want your place sound better? Ask on Ethan's board and you will get very valuable thoughts and opinions.

I agree with you, Kurt is kind of 'special', but the man is really helpful. Chris is the boss and have had his weak moments, but hey, don't we all?.:D

Alan is an internet forum spamer.

Is that anything like a "Spammer"?

I believe that is still up for debate, despite what you may think.

Han,

Chessrock may have been being overly discriptive in your eyes, but I think most of us who knows the RO site knew exactly what he was talking about...

.why dont you ask Kurt to choose between the $1700.00 JML 8 ch. pre or the $1400.00 Sebatron 4 ch. tube pre. both he says are in the API catagory as far as sound comparison, with the Seb having transparency by using tubes (go figure)...

bang for buck the JMl has to win (8 ch. verses 4 for a bit more money) garauntee the dude will never tell you to pick one over the other!..he'll advise you to buy both, how very realistic! sounds real worldish doesnt it? what a copout. the dude has no credibility. I respect a product reviewer much more if he comes out and says product A sucks orver product B or not holding a hidden agenda as not too offend a manufacturer thats in his pocket....

also that fool believes in not even reviewing a product unless its deemed "a quality piece" before he gets it. whats the point of a review then? ...If I only have $1400.00 to $1700.00 to spend on a "single" piece of gear that I cant get a hold of for testing, I want a reviewer to a honestly advise the better purchase and our boy Kurt will never be that truthful! its such obvious bull shit with him......Oh and Rod's a punk as well, dont let his tough guy persona fool you, he's a punk!

I know exactly what Chess is talking about and he certainly has a good point. There are a couple of weird things happening every now and then at RO, but the majority of the members and posters are okay. If moderaters and whoever runs the place act like fools, they will dig their own grave.

About the product reviews: IMHO 90% of the reviews I read are misleading , are beside the truth and biased most of the time.

Have you read a product review written by George Massenburg? Or by Bob Ludwig? Bob Katz perhaps? Those are the guys that know their shit. But the reviews I've read so far were most written by someone I'd never heard of, so I don't give much value for 'product reviews anyway. I order products from my regular gearpimp and if I don't like it I send it back. It's that simple.:D

But, my dear bro, the same happens here at HR dot com all the time. Some say microphone A (or B1:D) is a big bang for the buck and some other say it sucks.

For a novice engineer this can be very confusing and I really don't like it at all. Of course YMMV, but sometimes I have the feeling that this bashing hasn't got anything to do with the mic in question, but more with the people who pimp it. And that ain't good at all. I hope I'm wrong about that, but I trust my feelings always.

Would someone like George Massenburg (for example) make a statement about a particular mic, you can 100% believe him.
But people like GM will never bash a product, get it?

About Rod: You say he's a punk? Explain why you make statements like that, because as far as I know Rod, he seems helpful, nice and humorous to me.

Peace, Han

Do you thing a group of 4 year old kids would have more fun playing with a B1 or a Mr. Microphone?

Do you need the feedback of the group on this issue? Are you sure that you are not qualified to answer it yourself?

Alan built his business through the internet by knocking down his competition to build his products up... he knows the power of the "word-of-mouth" through the internet and will do whatever he can not to let anyone do to him what he did to his competition (ADK, DBX, etc) online.

What proof do you have of this, other than your own paranoia?

With all due respect, Chessrock, the PMI forum guidelines specifically and clearly state what kind of posts are not accepted there.

Han,

you're right about many things. to refrain myself from slingen more crap as I too get a bit tired of it all. I think the RO thing (certainly not meant for this forum) gets me very riled up as I have been deleted several times for asking tough questions and calling out Kurt on his BS. i guess this isnt the place for an RO bashing (with all due respect for the provider) as I have been very ganged up on from Ron, and Davedog threatening me bodily harm as silly as that sounds, for questioning Kurts motives.

but you're right theres plenty of attacks around here to keep folks buisy..I just like to talk and learn about music. hope you have a nice holiday season.

Bobby
