yep..prostitution is definitely a crime...it has its own set of laws.

before i get banned ..i think the whole legal aspect is worth talking about ... its not pro or against anything ..just the law.

I don't use software stuff or really even a computer in my room but the way I see it is...

If you've got these companies spending big dollars doin the research and development of some new software, payin the people who design it, pay for the packaging, duplication and shipping...

then ya got someone who gives nothing back to help support all that cost...

it's only a matter of time before the company who paid all the R & D etc says to hell with it, it's not worth it...and abandons the software and any future updates it might have had...
and moves on to a different area that will make em money.

Or the price for that product goes so damn high that nobody can afford it. shootin yourself in the foot. ;)

Just a thought...

I paid $39 for Cakewalk's Pyro software (Staples) in 1999 for my Windows 98 PC.
It also worked on my next computer with Windows Me.
But when I got another with Windows XP, Pyro wouldn't work with it.
So I had to buy "Pyro 2004" ($44.95)
In 2008, I got a computer with Windows Vista. Pyro 2004 wouldn't work with Vista.

Did I even LOOK at getting the newest version of Pyro?

Have I been ripped off?

Another note:

A friend wanted me to show him how to run "Band In The Box".
He gave me the software so I could learn how to use it, then instruct him over the phone (or when I came over).
I never USED the program (I thought it stunk) and have since deleted it.
The advertising & description was deceptive and made the program sound like a great solution when needing a full band for a song.

I'm glad I never bought it.

My point...gray areas.
Demos aren't always long enough to get to know a program...and some manufactures leave you hanging. (Thanks Cakewalk!)

i use my reel to reel and my audiotronics 310 and obsolete rack o sound. audio should be analog (my opinion).all this digital stuff takes the soul from the work(my silly opinion agian).. if you actualy make any money with a cracked verison of a program and they trace it in which all audio progams embed tones in to the finshed product IE 2 early forms of this

then you are "boned" and rightfully i might add. one for stealing and 2 for selling stolen property which is what your music becomes if the corpration comes after you. If you dont like they demo or how they put it together dont buy it... look for a demo you like
stealing is stealing whether done for duty profit or fun ;)
how bout you work on some stuff 24/7 for 2 years to have someone take it from you and make all your money for you hows that feel?

dont get me wrong you can compose awesome tracks with this stuff but
i guess i mostly mean haromizers and nosie reduction systems-
and even i am using a NRS its really the abuse of such things that take the real feeling you get from a good clean recording and make it sound all fake
i should have been a little bit more spefic in acorrdance to what music it takes the soul from.
rock/country + digital= Hanna Montana ,(get my point?)
other types of music arent effected as much
most of the stuff wouldnt be around without digital equipment
like nine inch nails and i mean how can you take the soul of something that never had one. Lol:p

no one polices corprations , but i sure dont want some dude in a suit coming to my house after i made a few bucks with a court order saying you owe us all your money or all your bass belongs to us because you used our product stolen or not. :p

You totaly could still be using win 98vr!!! if you still have it you could bulid an awsome rig to run it on now for dirt cheap!!! :D
so i would have to say no its your fault for upgrading OSs.......JJK you got taken you bought cake walk :)
 
I've never been in the position where a demo isn't offered that allows me to determine if the product is worth some cold-hard-cash.

neither do I, but I dont use cracked software and your music isnt embedded with the programme it was recorded with and no one polices this made up shit...I never mentioned corporations

even if it were true no one, I repeat no one has ever been charged with the evidence of embedded WAV files..nonsense

unless you can show otherwise?
 
i still haven't answered the poll because i'm torn between answers. i mean, i don't really use pirated software before buying it. :D

let me clarify, because i don't want people thinking i'm stealing software:

it takes me a long time to demo software because i don't record everyday. i'm not just going to jump into that kind of investment without reeeeaally knowing if i like their product!

i'm still demo'ing logic 4.7. i'm still not convinced.
