I can't believe only one other guy came up with Charlie Christian! And *no one* has Andre Segovia???!! What rock do you shredders live under? Oh well-

1.Charlie Christian
2.Andre Segovia
3.Jimi Hendrix
4. Julian Breem
5. John McLaughlin
6. Jerry Garcia
7. Chet Atkins
8. Alvin Lee
9. Jorma Kaukonen
10. B.B. King
11. Stevie Ray Vaughan
12.Allan Holdsworth
13. Eric Johnson
14. Frank Zappa
15. Joe Satriani
16. Carl Verheyen
17. Pete Townsend
18. Les Paul
19. Django Reinhart
20. Al DiMeola

I agree, 20 is not enough. No room for Joe Pass, Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and bizzillions of others. Some I pick for their technical excellence, some for their influence, and some for their original genius. In the last category, Hendrix, Charlie Christian, and Pete Townsend stand out for doing something with a guitar that no one had ever done before. For pure speed, John McLaughlin is the fastest I've ever seen, by a long shot. For pure technical skill, Segovia trashes everybody.-Richie

Isley (Big Muff Pi/Flange artist creating unforgettable solo classics)
Ozzy (he MADE Black Sabb)
Chuck Berry (the ORIGINATOR and not the imitator)
