I guess anyone under 30 won't dig this because the lyrics are a collection of references of song or album titles from the 60's and 70's. But for the "older" folks out there, let me know what you think. I have to say that this is one of the first tunes I did when I put together my home studio a few years ago...The guitar tracks were done before I started micing my guit, so it's not the greatest sound, since it's direct...I originally did this with drum machine and programmed bass, but have since replaced them with real drums and bass.
So anyway, just thought I'd put this up on a Friday night, not to impress anyone, but just for a little nostalgia....

Dude, very cool. Nice and interesting vibe going on. Definitely over the top 80's rock sound. Very good mixture of several elements here. And some good recording. I like this one. Shows someone having some fun here. Excellent...

Thanx Dog...You know, I haven't even listened to tihs tune in about a year, no joke. I went and listened to it after posting and realised it's a pretty cool tune, but there is so much I would change now...There are some drum machine tracks that I left in doubled with the real drums I re-did. I would re-do the vocals and guitars. I can't believe how thin a voice I used to sing with. Anyway, I think it's a real fun tune, but I certainly don't think the production is anything to write home about. But, I might re-do it...On the other hand, I've had a few drinks, maybe I'll hear it tomorrow and not want to hear it again for another year.

that's among the best songs ever :D they'd definitely play that one like crazy on VH1 if you had a video for it. My favorite parts were: paint it black from station to station ..... in through the out door.... and of course: if 6 was 9 or 25 or 6 to 4

GREAT stuff..........
Brings back my childhood.

I downloaded the MP3. That sucker will be on 8-track to play in my Chevy Van

HAHA ! Classic quote!

Jdavid...thanx for the heads up. I'll try to get Christian's manager to put in a good word for me at VH1.:)

Cool. I was expecting to hear the theme to "That 70's Show" or something. This is classic. Must have taken a long time to put those lyrics and that arrangement together. Now I have to pull out all my old records, you reminded of a lot of great stuff.

yeah right ;)
you're a great entertainer on this track. Which kinda annoys me

And, and this kinda goes with something i've been talking about in the "mp3 comment" thread.... what's wrong with the guitars?, i mean if i didn't know you hadn't mic'd them, i wouldn't have reflected at all. Isn't this a finished piece?... cuz i think it is. Thanks for sharing it!

...

Thanx alot Mad...Yes, it was a finished piece when I had done it. But I g uess listening back now, I hear all the things I would change and don't really consdier "finished" at all. But I think this tune is about the vibe as opposed to the quality. I think the drum sound saves it, though. Thanx.

same song double post??????

oh well, i'll add something anyhow.

sibellent. (forgot to mention it last time)

Um...no. What song are you talking about? This is the only thread about this song. I have written more than one song in my life.

ok, got it now, if you hit the green arrow at the top of the page it always plays ivory tower, even on this songs page.

and, sorry didn't mean to offend.

No problem...Do it again, though, and I'll have to send my lawyer after you. Seems like the thing to do around here.:)

i will say that ivory tower sounds a little better to me. (better kit sounds)
although, it is kinda a peroid piece :D
sibellent still, i'd put a hi-cut on the vox reverb

i'm really digging the break down.

wood block may be a little loud.

Thanx Giraffe...Yes, Ivory Tower HAS to sound better. If you read my fist post in this thread, you'll see that this is one of the first songs I recorded a few years ago, so there would be a lot to re-do in this one to bring it up to standard.

That woodblock is almost cutting my head off, I hate it.

That's really cool! You cheated a few times and reached into the 60's!

HAHA!!!! You're right. But the song is about 70's radio, so I guess it can be assumed that a 70's radio station would have played 60's music, too. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

cool! Nice job,I like your vocal sound on this alot.I miss those days.....
