you guys should just forget your solo careers as this is where you belong ;)

Oops - I thought you did mellotron ???

Anyway - written by rayc (lyrics/music) and joeym (melody)

I second that this is excellent work. Stunning, in fact. It is very inspiring to hear this level of skills in everything from songwriting through performance to mixing and mastering. I'm amazed.

Thanx guys, I believe Pygmy Beat is on to something good. I find it totally interesting to be doing something completely different to what I'm used to and working with great musicians.

For the readers amongst you:

Thanatogenous.
Thanatogenous my friend,
What know you of wine and roses?
My Dark Angel, fold thy wings,
Talk of all that Death supposes.

Brief respite from your duties,
Drink with me of life and I’ll.
Not ask the terminal question,
Come; show your face a little while.
Now, I will simply ask, let,
Business come after pleasure.
Just this once I‘ll clutch the moment,
Though not long for such a treasure.

Thanatogenous my friend,
What know you of love & leaving?
My Dark Angel, rest your tools,
And talk of loss and of grieving.

Brief respite from your duties,
Drink with me of life and I’ll.
Not ask the terminal question,
Come; show your face a little while.
Brevity is your blessing,
And it is my measure.
You shan’t leave unaccompanied,
Just grant me this small leisure.

Thanatogenous my friend,
What know you of loss & mem’ries?
My Dark Angel, hold your stroke,
Let’s talk of men and vanities,

I keep you from your duties,
But give me a moment to.
Leave my own feeble impression,
My life like these last seconds flew.
For the thoughts and the memories,
To keep company within.
Yet to tarry would be folly,
So let the leaving now begin.

Thanatogenous my friend,
What know you of my destiny?
My Dark Angel, take my arm,
Let’s see to this last tyranny.

Thanatogenous my friend

This was a very enjoyable collaboration with almost every element the 1st version offered by the musicians. Joe, Greg & Ido really work well together.
Excellent mix Greg - tough and fluent.
Please do you own research into back masking, check with Ozzy about any kids in the mid west feeling depressed and remember the dissolution is no real solution to the convolution of life.

That's just outstanding. Reminds me of David Bowie. That's too cool for school from top to bottom.

Mix-wise, this is brilliant. I don't hear anything that needs to be touched. Great song, too. Great performances all around. Awesome work! Commencing download.... :)

I didnt know Greg could play this slow, just kidding. Drums and mix sound great.

Great job all around. Enjoyed the listen!

I hear the Bowie comparison too. This is all round terrific, congrats all - especially Joeym on the vocals.

What's the inspiration behind the lyrics by the way rayc? I googled Thanatogenous and based on the images that it brought up, I'm glad I wasn't in work at the time! :spank:

Thanks guys. I don't usually mix the Pygmy Beat stuff, but Ray's computer took a shit on him, so I gave it a go. It was a lot of tracks!

Yep, my computer died. 2 yr old Dell dedicated to ONLY audio stuff & the motherboard took a walk with Mr Thanatos very soon after warranty expired.
Greg has done a brilliant job of the mix - he has golden ears my friends!
Rob, inspiration, primarily: the Evelyn Waugh novel The Loved One. A principal character is Aimee Thanatogenous, (lit. Friend Death or Beloved of the Tribe of Death depending on your source), and the novel is about euphemisms etc and the American way of Death. I'll have to chase up the movie.
I'll have to do a net search & see what you found with the name.
Oh, as for tempo I know it's a strain but I play as fast as my arthritic fingers will let me these days and Greg generously takes a couple of moggies and does an excellent job at the reduced speed of life.

I liked the song. Great playing all around. Yeah the singer does sound a bit like Bowie. The song style is something like his too.

I think the low end could maybe be a little stronger. Bass and kick sound fine. I'd just turn them up a little.

I thought the guitars were a little on the boxy side. That might be what you want. A bit scratchy as well.

Vocals were a bit boxy too. Not like the guitars, but a bit. A little notch at 1000-1200 might help.

I think you could turn up the lead guitar probably 3-4 dbs.

I told Greg to turn down my lead as it was interfering with the vocals. I like 'em where they are now.... :D

Yeah there's no way I'm turning up the lead 3 or 4db's. That's insane. :D

do you think you will do enough tracks for an album?

Ill be up for a copy..... fo sho ma homeslice whitebreads!

WoW don't know how this one got by me. WOW great stuff guys.

What was the recording chain with the vocals? And the processing?
