the guitars need more air in the mix id try to get more click out of the kick an gate it at 3:03 i need more cowbell id work on seperation more id like to here the bass better id like for it have a slightly diffrent sound to stick out a lil better in the mix the drums sound to dry for my tastes as well

i was using sennheiser hd600 headphones but i also have mackie hr624 refrence monitors in my studio

If you have independent control on the OH mics, I'd love to hear a little more of the clanging ride bell in the first bridge, too. I thought the overall track was really well done; everything sits together well and the performance is very tight. Nice job.

Im really not into the modern rock sound at all but I have to agree that everything was very very well done.

The performance was incredibly tight so major props for that.

I like the song but no a fan of the vocals and lyrics (not really relevant in this forum right?)

my favorite part was the solo, I was expecting some mindless shredding but instead it was very complimentary of the song and tastefully done. As a guitarist I know it takes some restraint to keep the solo from being a shredfest so congrats on not letting that happen.

on a sidenote: I enjoy non-standard time signatures very much

Really digging this. Good voice, good arrangement. Nice and heavy and chuggy.

My only nit would be that it doesn't need the quick double bass drum passes so often. It's an interesting enough rythm and time signature. The double-kik in some of those parts ALMOST sounds like the drummer is off, even though he's not. It just seems to complicate it too much. They're fine in the "slower" bridge because they don't clutter it up, but in the intro, for example, it almost makes it "twitch" too much, if you know what I mean.

Besides that, everything is very very cool and well done. Good tune, too.

wow solid as a mofo. Really like the vocals, they've got that Layne Staley scratch to them. Drums, guitars sound fab. Great tune. Did you record this yourselves or in a studio?

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the comments.

Yes, everything was recorded in my basement studio.

Drum mics are as follows:
Kick mic-Sennheiser e602
Snare Top - Beta 57A
Snare Bottom - Audix OM5 (???bass player had it lying around and it's hypercardoid so decent rejection)
Toms: (There are 5!! toms) 4 of them are Sennheiser e604's, and one is a SM57...

Overheads are Naiant MSH-2 omnis...$30 mics
Hihat is a CAD small diaphram pencil mic, not sure of the model
Room mic is a Rode NT-1

Drummer practices a lot; I've got a few comments of "those must be programmed!" haha

All mics are going through an 80s Allen and Heath System 8 Mixer, into 2 M Audio Delta 1010s

Bass is a PRS bass, into a Boogie head with Eden cabinets. DI'd and Miked with the e602.

Guitars are a '71 Les Paul Recording into a Boogie IIC+, miked on 2 different speakers (Black shadow and vintage 30 I believe) with a 57 and 57A.

Vocals are the NT1.

Fantastic!
I wouldn't change a thing. It's got the right punch, the vocals are awesome, the guits are great, the bass is pumping, drums nice and banging (I like their dry sound). And it's a great song....got any more like this one? Well done!
