Hello, Does anyone know if the reel motors on the Teac X2000 model r/r can be lubed? I am considering getting one that possibly has a problem on one. Owner says the supply motor gives a high pitch squeal. I saw a listing on ebay for a maintenance kit that includes belts and some oil. If not..next question, are the motors the same on the M model (half Track) as the others?

As usual thanks in advance for any response.

Short answer is no.

There are shielded cartridge roller bearings in those motors. If it's making a squealing sound either there is something mechanical dragging like a worn brake band, or maybe a bearing is bad...they are easy to work on...no press or puller required to remove/install bearings...good opportunity to clean the commutator too. You want to make sure to reinstall the bushings the same exact way they came out, and don't skimp on the bearings. DO NOT get "skate bearings". Order new SKF, NSK or Nachi parts, 2 per motor, I think they are 608ZZ.

I've just spent way too much time tearing this stuff apart.

Yessssss unfortunately jumping into the home is quite easy...and I'm far too curious for my own good lol.
