Anyone here trying to get published through Taxi or Songscope.com or any of the others? I've noticed there seems to be more of these types showing up, and I am interested to know if anyone has had any experience or maybe even similar interest.

hey Mr. Bob........

Do you take PayPal man? :D

Well, I think this whole starmaking industry needs to move on a bit. What you need to do Bob is combine it with a dating agency - "for an extra $50 you the spotty overweight pasty faced wannabe songwriter will get guaranteed introductions to a bevy of gorgeous, talented, unattached female lead vocalists who are dying both to realise the full beauty of your lyrics and to show their appreciation of your deep romanticism."

Hope Springs Eternal.

Let us know when you're rich and famous.

FWIW . . .
TAXI had their first #1 hit about a year and a-half ago. "Buy Me a Rose" was written by 2 guys out in the midwest somewhere, was placed by TAXI, and was #1 on the COuntry charts (and quite high on the AC charts).

As I've said in prevoius posts on the subject of Taxi.

I co-wrote a song with a member of Taxi. Through Taxi, we gained access to a publisher (which we likely could not have accessed without Taxi). Through this publisher we had the song placed in a movie. Although it was a direct to video movie, it has been broadcast on a network channel as well as various cable channels.

We made a small amount of cash from this song. More importantly, we gained access to a legitimate publishing company - who has proven the ability to place songs. Hopefully this can have some future value.

Now we have had other songs we sent to Taxi, which resulted in nothing more than rather generic but helpful and honest critque. We have also had the publisher turn down some submissions.

Now the question is: Since Taxi (and the publisher) did nothing with the other songs, are they frauds - or were are songs not good enough???

Taxi looks for very formula driven (ie: commercial) material which can meet specific needs - it is very likely the majority of songs submitted simply do not meet the rather restictive criteria.

I'm not defending Taxi - since I agree that many may join Taxi with stars in their eyes and little in the way talent when it comes to writting a good commericial song, and for those people Taxi is not the best place to spend thier money.

Although Taxi may only lay claim to one #1 hit, there are other less impressive successes. I can't speak for everyone, but at least in the case of the song we placed in a movie - Taxi was worth the price of admission.

I was a member of Taxi when they first started, though I am not now a member. I was convinced by the caliber of people who were involved with or who endorsed the service as legit. I still am.

Though I never had the success that mikeh had, there are hundreds who have.

TAXI is just one more way of networking, and offers people with absolutely no experience or contacts in the music business a chance to have their stuff heard by industry pros. If you join thinking you'll soon be discovered as the next great songwriter you will be sorely disappointed. If you join as a first step in learning the craft of songwriting and the business of music, you can probably learn something about both.

Any organisation that asks money to listen to songs to judge is a bad organisation.

Yes.....I must agree with this....

If I did not join Tonos.....
I would not have met the people that I have...
my mentors...my collaborators...my friends...

It can make a huge difference in your development...
but it is not the fast road to fame...
just a starting point...

Taxi might help if you really have your shit together....
I am not there yet...
I'm still learning....still a student....ya know?
