TAXI. Is this any good or is it a SCAM?

my music partner has it and the listings are real

but what i don't know is how much consideration is given to taxi members by the organizations that are in need of jingles/songs/scores/etc...

i guess what i'm saying is: will a TV/film/record producer see that the material says TAXI on it, and say "i've gotta take a listen to this, cause they pre-screen and only send me good stuff".

Taxi

A C&W songwriter who uses my studio has been a member of TAXI for a while. He has had a song published (may be close to having a second song published) using TAXI.

TAXI does have a degree of credibility with some producers, publishers, etc. and if material is recommended by TAXI is may get closer to the top of the pile. However, since TAXI must protect it's credibility, it must be very selective in what it recommends.

Material must meet a very defined criteria (can you say formula?) to be considered.

However, TAXI does provide very intelligent feed back on material, which can improve one's writting skills.

As Bruce said - it is legit, but a long shot.

Translation.....

Spend your money on better gear, not on TAXI.

taxi

I haven't joined taxi, yet. But I'm thinking of doing so, once I've got a few songs recorded (so that I have something ready to submit right away). Here's my rationale...

First, if the listings are legit, then that's one level better than aimlessly pitching songs to people you don't know. A long shot is better than no shot.

Second, I think it will inject a little bit of discipline into my songwriting. I think deadlines will force me to write more. I'm not a high production songwriter, and the only way to get better is to do it more. I have a day job, and this will force me to take it more seriously.

Third, I like the idea of critiques. I think that may help.

I'm not expecting taxi to get me a songwriting deal. But if it does...
