I got the "Reply to post" and just started to laugh
Were on the top again..........I think we can get 3000 views.
Hey An4 I think Dave finally figured out it would be better business to not say anything here in the open forum.

Hey Pash,

The count doesn't surprise me because this topic is at the root of what we're all doing here...Independant music producers exchanging ideas on how we can make a living doing what we love......

Iwould still like to have a discussion on the topic....

Graham.

Dave has much bigger fish to fry these days........what with the Starmaker Machine being new to the scene and all, he's got major competition! Gotta write another book......whatnot. I've found that when you tell a lie, you usually have to tell two more to cover it up. Before long, you loose track of all the lies....then you gotta write another book!

David, you're either driven or greedy. Nobody would've put up with the flak you put up with in this thread unless they were driven or greedy.

You know, you don't *have* to make this work.

This post's worth re-reading.

Ever seen the movie crossroads? Maybe theres more truth to that movie than most want to believe. The devil even finally came out with the truth. "It aint never the way you want it to be bluesman. " My point is kids are handing their guitars to the likes of Dave and expecting them to be handed back all tuned and on there way to fame and fortune.
So Dave the jig is up. Lets see your horns..... Its all about the almighty dollar. As long as there are fools, there is money to be made. People would sell their soul for an illusion.
The topic for todays meeting is getting honest........

Dave is the king of spam. My son ( the house, hiphop, trance mixer )who knew nothing of this thread went to check out a ten day trial deal that was posted and since then has been getting spammed to death. So much in fact that it convinced him to give it a try........man there is a broken record. Luckly he asked me about it the other day and is now aware but the spam mail keeps coming. Sell the book ,do the seminars .......loose the web site trap.
Indiebiz, Taxi, Tonos, Hit Headquarters .......stop the spam mailings

Ok, so Myx is conducting the meeting today.

*everyone in monotone unison*

"hi Myx"

Maybe we can find a thread for Dave........is there such a thing as a spamaholic? I hear they use SHARKMEAT in spam on occasion.

I don't get on the computer much, but I pick up enough Spam
to make Monty Python proud......

Every time I go to a site and pickup a "Subscription" I didn't ask for, all I want to do is return the favour and give them a free one too......

Could we do that????????

Graham.

I think Dave found my email cause I've been SPAMED!!! to death lately....Must be some sort of vengful thing I suppose. It makes you wonder about Daves little Porno music thread huh folks.

Im just going to continue to do my own thing and give away CD's like many of us in the mp3 mixing clinic. It gives me a good feeling knowing some people enjoy my music and the music industry doesnt get diddly shit........and if we all do it, the music industry will come crashing down. Then we can write books on how we screwed the music industry and make lots of money$$$....
Seeing as Dave advocates poor musicians paying to play(which pisses me off) I think the music biz should start paying to hear. So Dave if your out there, send me lets say $100 bucks cash money, western union is fine and I will send you a CD of my shit. And when I trace you to my music sites I will also charge you for listening to some of my shit already, cause the regular joe gets to listen for free and the music biz folks now have to pay to listen.
Yuppers, that is the way it should be in my book.
Also one last thing, spamers will be beaten and tortured.
Myx

Myx,
I think you've mistaken Dave for someone who's actually "in" the music business. From what I have been able to deduce from my own casual observation, he hangs out on the fringes. Not to say that he doesn't have contacts though! I will say he has probably forced his way into a few doors....he seems to have that tenacity about him.....sort of a fruitfly kinda quality.

I consider Dave to be in the business and I do think he has allot to offer its just the business practices that are questionable. I think the books are ok and I think the seminars are a good thing as well. Its the website that is the problem. The opening page is a trap for anyone with a dream of becoming successful. And the constant spaming to emails is to much. Once you join most of the spaming stops but until then he is on ya like a cop at a donut shop. Im pretty sure he has taken my good business advise and will no longer reply in hope that this thread will die and we become the acceptable loss.
Taxi, Tonos, Hit Factory Indiebiz.......its all the same show its just that some have bigger lights.

Hey...over 2100 views!! Pretty respectable, don't ya think? I'm sure Dave will be back sooner or later. He's got to come back and check on his porno thread! I personally believe he has a lot of people bullshitted.

Actually, I was away from my computer all last week because I was at SXSW. Perhaps you've heard of it.

but I welcome the oppurtunity to debate your view of the
path to music success vs. my views......

I'll be happy to answer any specific questions you have, so feel free to post them.

Actually, I have been busy promoting a new book. It's a music business goal planner and I just got it to #18 on Amazon. Not #1 like I had hoped, but still not a bad showing.

Or they want to set the record straight...

Yeah, this post is worth re-reading. You just proved by earlier point about how you guys ask me to let it drop, but then get bored when I'm not around and start to make assumptions about why I haven't posted for a few days.

He signed up for an auto-responder. He signed up. How is that Spam?

If he wants off, tell him to hit the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of those emails.

Glad to see Dave back on the boards! Me and Billy Joe Maples attended the SXSW conference too - and we had a ball! We met every major player in the music business, and had them all back to our tour bus for drinks afterward! Clint and Lisa were there, as well as Faith, both Georges (Strait & Jones), Willie, Winnona, and the entire cast of The New Hillbillies! I don't want to be a name-dropper, but what the hell? This is the music business business, right? Suffice it to say that EVERYONE was there! It really got wild around midnight, when Tim McGraw rode through the bus on horseback, firing two sixguns and giving a rebel yell! What a wild and crazy guy!

It was also a great opportunity for me to premiere my NEW BOOK -

"How To Make $100 Million In The Music Business Business!"

Complimentary copies were grabbed up by eager entrepreneurs, some of whom commented:

"I've been spinning my wheels trying to sell songs in Nashville for years. Now that I've read Buffalo Bob's NEW BOOK, I'm making large coin off of other aspiring songwriters!"

M. I. Sleazey, Saginaw Michigan

"This book has it all! Internet forum spamming, "personal advice" consultation, tax dodges, creative ethics - everything!"

Thurston Howell III , The Island

Why waste your time trying to make $100K/year playing, recording, marketing your music when you can make $100 MILLION/year fleecing gullible hayseeds with The Big Dream?

Why, indeed!

Buy the NEW BOOK! We really need new retreads on the tour bus.
