Sorry for wasting your bandwidth. I didn't know there was a "Bandwidth Rule".

No rule, just kind of a pointless dispute. Seems to me the prize just ain't worth the fight, but then again, nobody's making me read the thread...:D

I agree. Ms. Kottmann and I have resolved our differences amicably.

It's only rock and roll and I like it...

Yes, we handled this privately and all is fine; Buffalo Bob rocks.

I apologize for my disturbance. I was just defending what I found to be a wonderful service and relationship for me, Indiebiz.com

....and you know how these things spiral out. hehe!

It's only rock and roll.

All the best!

Timing is everything I guess. I just found out about this site, and thought it would be cool to jump on board. Hmmmmm (just kidding)
And I, like Karen, like the service I received at Indiebiz. I'm not trying to carry an attitude. It looks like the mis-understanding was cleard up.
Let's rock and roll

Mercury Retrograde Comedy Perhaps?

hehe!

It did get funny. At one point yesterday I thought it was a sign and that I had my chance to escape the music business!

Anyway guys, Seagoddess Entertainment is an artist development, artist management and promotion company in business since 1996. Komco Int'l is the mothership. The event planning company started in 1984 was Skyline Yacht Charters and Events. I still produce events on occasion.

Splashbox Records is a brand new 2003 baby. I must be insane, now I am opening a record label.

And! I never call myself the president of my companies, actually I'm the CEO and I normally call myself the 'Head Fish'! I thought if I put my usual title down I would get railed. Well, I'm going back to it! I'm the Head Fish!

These titles mean nothing. I'm the founder and when you register and incorporate companies you get a big fancy title. It is a bit of a joke.

All the best!
Enjoy the comedy of life...

Is it just me ?

Or is this kind of sh*t absolutely soul scarring ?

Oh well, I guess it just separates the wheat from the chaff.

If you really want to want to be a good performer/artist you will know better than to go looking for mother's little helper.

You will probably be smarter than I and not respond to troll posts either.

Peace.

I just wanted to add to this thread by saying...

"a bish ka bob ca dooh a wang afang er busgbe tushbe gossa dooka...brick a brack a brick a brack a bisk boom ba, bugs bunny bugs bunny rah rah rah!"

too much drama

I was deeply moved by all of the rank emotion displayed in this thread. The drama was captivating. I feel dirty for having read the whole thing. Is there a support group for drama junkies like me?? :P

Don't Waste Your Money

It you are just starting out and you have money to burn then both of these companies might be of some value. I was a member of both and found them to be pretty much useless

Taxi did refund my money when it was determined they could not help me but Indiebiz told me I was beat when only after 15 minutes on the site I tried to get a refund. If your going to join go for the minimum. Everything that is on the site is available for free with abit of searching. I posted a ton of free links a few months back on here.

These people make there $100,000.00 a year of off peoples pipe dreams. They have no more power than the rack jobbers who work for the record companies........No wait thats not true if the rack jobbers are well liked then they might be able to get your CD / Music through the label door.

Good Luck

We don't whitewash how the music business works at Kathode Ray Music and that is frustrating to some people.

I don't have any problem with giving anybody on IndieBiz.com their money back if they can show me they took my advice and it didn't work. We don't give money back because you don't like the advice and refuse to listen to us though; that would be stupid.

See www.indiebiz.com/features/guarantee.html for the full policy.

David
I don't want to get into another pissing match here but your entire platform is a white wash.
Make $100,000.00 a year...............WHATS THAT
I have been in this business for a long time and don't know to many folks who are making that kind of money playing music.
Your like the Evangelist of music preying on new ,young inexperienced people who are looking for the answer when we both know all you have is Paypal.

Years ago I was the production manager for a seven city Tammy Wynett Canadian tour. On the fifth show at around 1pm right before sound check I watched the bands bus drive over the border into Port Huron ,they didn't get paid from the night before . The promoter told me some thing I will never forget as he was getting in his car and taking off leaving me standing there.

"The winner of the day is the guy with the best scam"

When I got home in my mailbox was my deposit check...bounced

Oh ya
I was on your site for only 15 minutes when I asked for a refund. The woman I was dealing with said " No Refunds" I even tried to get her to bounce me down to the 1 month .......no way.

You got my $99.00 US ( $160.00 Canadian ) save the preaching for your seminars or your few followers on this thread.

lol..........Just when I don't think the foot can go in any further you launch again.

Thats the great thing about those sites anything can appear.
The one guy from Orlando I think skipped over the web page design section or missed the PDF followup. Might want to get on that.

Hey Dave.............its me you can turn off the salesman crap anytime or better yet why don't you put your money where your mouth is and run my next showcase in Nashille.
I'll get the guys on the tour bus and we'll meet at 12th & Porter for 30min of music a PorterHouse Steak and a beer.
You bring the crowd
Great idea!!!

The bands not bad
Don't take my word for it

Ok....here's my take on this,
A while back while reading one of these threads, I decided to visit David's site. The first popup was an offer for "free lessons". Being curious, I signed up. So the lessons started, and after the first couple of lessons I realized that Indebiz had nothing for me. If I was a complete newbie, perhaps in my teens, spending my parent's money, and the rest of my buddies in the band were willing to kick in their share, Indebiz would be a perfect way to learn a few things at fairly minimal financial risk. I remember those days and truly wish I would have had some guidance like that. I am a song writer, I don't gig, I don't need to know how to promote my band.....been there....done that! Now the "music business quote of the day" have been coming daily since the lessons stopped. I don't mind it, and I don't blame David for any thing except coming up with an idea that doesn't seem very popular on this board.

What's in it for me? Seems like a pretty one-sided deal, doesn't it?

Use some of the techniques we went over on IndieBiz and you'll be fine.

I'm known at 12th and Porter, so why don't you check me out there. Ask John Bruton how he feels about Nashville New Music Conference. If you're a member of BMI, you might also want to look up his daughter, Deanna, while you're in town.

Thanks for the invite to eat with you, but I'm vegetarian and I don't drink, so we'll have to come up with a different option on the meal.

To clarify for everybody, the "10 day course" and membership on IndieBiz are two different things.

The course, being that it is not interactive, isn't going to be everything to everyone. No, it might not help you, but it helps most folks since there is something you can learn from everything...even if it's what not to do.

When you join IndieBiz though, that's when you get my personal advice...and your answers to every music business question that you have. There is no way that you can be beyond that.

I'm in Nashville and we work with songwriters all the time. Call up the Nashville Songwriters Association for a reference. 615-256-3354 of their number. You can talk to Jeff, Jenni, Bart, Alicia, or anybody there.

Thanks for your comments on the A&R quotes. I am working on a new A&R book as well as a new music press book, so watch for more shortly.

David knows his sh*t. A lot of Indiebiz is advice from him as well as other members and resource material.

You get what you put into it. He's not gonna hold your hand and make sure you look twice before you cross the musical road. He may advise you to but it's up to you to do it.

No need to rip on something that's working for a lot of people. Granted there are some relatively inexperienced members but there are also a lot of semi-professional and professional musicians that need help, need advice and a bit of guidance.

Sure it's not for everyone but there is no need to bad mouth something that may not be what you expected or what's "right" for you.

I've been a member for almost 2 years. I've never felt "taken" or that I was getting bad advice. As a matter of fact I've been playing semi-professionally for almost 20 years and thought I knew a lot of stuff. Needless to say there was a whole lot more I needed to know. Dave's book really helped, as well as Indiebiz has.

Rock on Dave!!!

Im glad its working for you ...I have been making a living in the music industry in many different areas for years. I have worked for and with many "Dave Hooper house with no money down" guys for a long time. Take a few minutes and use your search button or go here and get all the same info for FREE. No rocket science just common sense.

"What's in it for me? Seems like a pretty one-sided deal, doesn't it?"

It is what it is....an easy way for you to prove you are the real deal and not just a guy who spams people for a living.
Its in your home turf , Im sure you have the contacts ...how hard could it be........its worth the salad and coke.
The risk I think is much greater for me, I have to drive 12 hrs with 6 guys covering all the costs and for all I know you could get knowone to attend.

Im doing the show either way.
Cheers
