Noob here, not sure if this is the right forum, but it seems to be a Tascam hardware issue, so:
Just got a US1800 interface. Using Winows 7 - 64 bit and REAPER (not that it should matter for this issue).
Problem: I plugged an SM58 into the first mic channel and adjusted the gain so I was getting an overload light if I really yelled into it. The headphone volume when I have the mix knob over toward "Input" is EXTREMELY low (headphone volume cranked all the way up), almost unusable for monitoring. I'm getting signal into REAPER fine. Tried 2 different sets of headphones, same result. The output from the two L/R 1/4" monitor out jacks on the back of the unit is better, but still low IMHO. I ran them into a little Tapco Mix 120 mixer and was able to get acceptable levels in the phones output of the mixer, but still had to turn everything WAY up. I have plenty of volume from the computer side (mix knob moved over toward "computer").
I also have a little US-100 interface and have no such issues with it's headphone output.
Is something wrong or is it like this wih all US1800's
