Tascam us 800 to compressor

This is potentially a very stupid question. I understand that the tascam us 800 has s/pdif in and out. If I wanted to connect it to the behringer t1952 would I need a digital to analogue converter or would it just not work at all. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
 
spdif is just a direct digital route to you computer, bypassing the A/D converters in the 800. You would need two separate A/D converters to use spdif as a send/return. Even then, I'm not sure if that would even work.....

Probably better off getting a better interface, with more than one pair of outs.
