TASCAM US-1641 driver install question

Just got the unit and am wondering about driver install. Do I need to install the driver on the CD that came with it and then go to the TASCAM website and install the newer driver versions or can I just download the most recent driver from the website and that will get me current?

If I have to install the CD version and then go install the drivers on the website, do I have to do each one and in order?

Same question for firmware updates?

I just went through this process and actually realized that the 2.0 update that you will get from the Tascam site doesn't work with cubase properly (atleast for me)....For what ever reason when ever I updated the driver it would stop recognizing the input signal from the mics I was using. Took me quite a while to realize this was the problem. Just a heads up if you run into any similar problem, the driver on disc is working perfectly fine for me. I had to uninstall everything and redo the installation.

But to simply answer your question, yes install the cd driver version first. The 2.0 is just an update.

Capt., Thanks for the info. We're going to try Reaper first so I'll use the CD and then update the drivers from TASCAM's website.
