Anyone out there using a similar set-up?
Newbie having trouble setting this up.

Can't figure out how to get a signal to the comp?
Also having trouble understanding the word clock?
Need a signal path spelled out for me?

My system: Mac G4 466mhz 512ram (1) 30gig hd (1) 80gig hd
Motu 2804 interface w/PCI-324 Audio card
Audiodesk software
Tascam TMD-1000 digital mixer

Try going "Direct Out" of your TMD-1000 using a TDIF cable and connect to a TDIF connector on MOTU. This allows you to transfer 8 channels simultaneously. You should also make sure the word clocks are set the same (24 bit, 48khz is the highest setting for the TMD).

Thanks, a have a tdif cable but what about the signal path?

Should mic's be plugged into the mixer or the motu first? and why?
thanks in advance!!

What are you planning to do?

If you have a condenser mic you can plug directly into one of the XLR inputs using phantom power. You will need a pre-amp to plug directly into your MOTU using an analog input.
If you are using a dynamic mic you can straight into MOTU.

I'm recording analog audio (vocals, drums, guitar, bass, keys) no midi stuff. I have condenser mics as well as others (dynamics), and know all about phantom power. I can't get anything recorded.
