Hi,
This is my first time posting on this msg board.....and im a complete newbee at recording!
Ive got a Tascam porta 04 and a Realistic 6 track mixer.
For some reason everything that comes out of the 4 track when i record from the mixer using a phono to jack lead is mono, like no right of left tracks.
Does anyone know the reason for this?
Sorry i couldnt find a better way of describing the problem!

Thanks,
Franky

That description won't get you an answer, either,...

since there is no Tascam Porta 04, and you'll just have to try to describe the problem better. I could venture a guess, based on very sketchy details, but clarification is needed.

Hint: On the Porta 02, input 1 is used for Mono, which is normal. To split the input signals up into stereo, you'd then use (1 and) input 2.

That's a SWAG, and beyond that, I've no clue what you're actually describing. Please clarify, if possible. Thanx.

Mind reading department.

My Crystal ball tells me that you are using the direct outs of the Portastudio and feeding that to your Realistic mixer.

Don't do that!

Your Portastudio has a mixer built in and its used for playback and recording so, when you are playing back your tape, use each mixer channel in the Portastudio to monitor the tape and then you will have access to its pan, level and eq controls that can then though its stereo output jacks, feed to a mixdown deck or your computer's soundcard inputs.

Radio Shack offers a 30 day money back guarantee so take that Realistic back to them and pick up some useful stuff like microphone stands, strobe lights and a TV antenna for the homestead. :D

Cheers! :)
