I decided to finally figure out Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, which I can use through the Midiman Audio Buddy and Dman PCI card.

Does anyone know how to get stuff off of a Tascam MK3 into Cakewalk?

And conversely, how would I get tracks out of Cakewalk (or Acid) on to the Tascam?

I'd be eternally grateful for some advice (and so would my son).

hook the main stereo outs of the mkiii to the line input of the soundcard....you probably need a dual RCA to dual RCA wire.....set up Cakewalk to record from your soundcards line-in....press play on the 4 track and record on Cakewalk.....

or consider skipping the mkiii and recording straight to the computer...plug your mic, guitar, etc. into the audio buddy....use 2 cables that go from 1/4 in. trs to RCA to go into the soundcard......this is a very decent soundcard and preamp combo (audio buddy/dman).....

I agree with Gidge. You should skip the MKIII and go straight into the computer.

Thanks very much for your help.

My son's been mixing down from the MK3 to cassette and seems to feel he needs to deliver demo tapes this way. Does Cakewalk-to-4 track work basically the same way (recognizing that you switch the cables aournd for the reverse direction)?
